Come on now... get down into your basement and FIX that car... that thing kicked my cars BUTT last month and dang it, I want a chance to beat it THIS month! Plus, SOMEBODY'S gotta try to beat Wasabi and it sure isn't gonna be Sushi!!! ummmm, Steve, you did read the instructions on that glue that said "use in a WELL VENTILATED area" ? ;D ;D ;D Well, Out-of-Time is living up to it's name! It's 12:30 Thursday morning and I just packed it in it's shipping box! Yes, I love a challenge, I just hope UPS overnight gets it to Warren on Friday! It took a LOT of superglue! I don't think it's as fast as last month, about 0.01 slower, but I'm out of time!!!! No time for Old Yeller, that'll have to wait until December. Hey Warren, how about right before the races start you give us all a view of the truck entries on the webcam so we don't have to wait for the pics? Hopefully I'll see you all on-line. Steve 3cubdad 2:00 a.m. Thursday here and the epoxy is still wet on my Truck. I've been using the 5 minute stuff. Switched to the 60 minute version -- turned out to be . . . well, I don't know how long the dadgum stuff will take to set. It has been 3 hours so far. Got Wasabi cleaned and relubed, but Ron and Bad Habit are going back to Warren exactly like they arrived from him three weeks ago. Hey 3Cub, looks like you're not the only one who's "Out-of-Time." LOL. Good luck all. Steve H. THIS is what I like to hear! Wasabi is lubed, Out of Time is back in operation, Lucky's probably figured out a way to gain .010 since last month... and I'm confident that the good Doctor B will be back with the addition of his new Pure Stocker (hint! nudge! hint! Come on Doc... think of all the starving children in India or wherever... these days they have internet access and they WANT to SEE your new car run!). I think it was Bubba who remined me that "Fat Bottomed Girls make the rockin' world go round" in the Roller Derby post... since reading that I've been singin' "Fat Wheeled Cars, You Make the PWDRin' World go Round!" We were happy to see Warren's truck in an advanced state of construction... we... ummm... finished our truck body last night but it has no paint (maybe we can just slather the whole thing with MAC Tools stickers (shameless plug) and add a bit of color with markers ) nor have we tried to fit the body to the chassis. But who cares... ladies and gentlemen... we've got us a RACE comin' up so we'll have our truck operational by Saturday come heck or high water. : ) Max told me we "built a bad truck" because it doesn't have any "holes for the wheels" (wheel wells)... I told him that's to prevent any of 3Cub's "Chariot of Destruction" wheel spikes from puncturing our tires... he told me "Daaaaad, plastic wheels can't run out of air"... that Max, he's not the dimmest bulb in the box... Doc B... it's never to late to send in your cars... if you read this at work and haven't done so already, proceed immediately home and pack 'em up and ship 'em via overnight to Warren!

I feel like I am letting some people down (slow steve) but the new pure stocker at this point has no wheels on it Giving it a full overhaul. I know what your thinking....Dumb A**!!! I know, probably should have left well enough (or more than well enough) alone but if you don't try you'll never know just how badly you can screw up a fast car I am setting out to do just that! Wish me luck! Don't worry, Humerus will be back next month and I am sure the pure stocker will make its way to the PWD track in 09

I LIKE IT!!! ;D With everyone's rapidly expanding knowledge base in the techniques associated with building fast fat wheeled (Pure Stock/Limited/Stock whatever you want to call 'em) cars, 2009 is gonna be a very competitive year... the fun is just beginning!!!

I had all intentions on sending in a Stocker this month and racing for the first time at PWD, but the car was just not to my liking. Anyways with the fish biting like they are now, I just couldn't find the extra time to dial it in properly. Maybe next time.
Doc, I hope you don't go and make that Pure Stocker any faster, it's fast enough. ;D I think I got Ying Yangs issue fixed and I will finally get 6 good runs and not 5 good and 1 wiggler.

Depending on overnight shipping Outback CU, a pickup truck and Viva XLR (a car) should arrive Friday. Construction on Outback CU was completed this morning. With building time being limited for the pickup, it has not been track tested. This is our first appearance at PWD Racing.

Well guys,
Just got back from the 24 hour post office. I just barely made the 8:00 p.m. overnight shipping deadline by 10 minutes. The usual 25 minute drive took over an hour due to a gynormous traffic jam. I felt like I was in some sort of chase scene, snaking through 20 mph residential zones at 55 mph, looking for short cuts -- like 007 on a mission to defuse the bomb before the world is destroyed. Don't mind my rambling, I'm just delirious from the stress of trying to get cars mailed.
The truck build -- which I should call 007 in tribute to the mission I went on to get it in the mail (I am actually calling it "Ippon") -- was a comedy of errors. The 60 minute epoxy I used last night to secure the front dominant wheel was still not fully hardened this morning. Then I decided that I didn't like the way it was aligned, so I pulled the FDW off to realign it. Somehow pulling the wheel and axle out left the truck with an over sized axle hole. Had to use shims to tighten the hole. Got it re-glued using the 5 minute stuff. By the time you mix it, put it in the axle hole, insert the wheel and axle, and adjust for proper spacing, you have all of about 60 seconds to check and adjust the alignment. I didn't like the way it came out the second time, so I went through the same process a third time. If I'm lucky, the epoxy will be dry by race time. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun to build, but I don't have high expectations for it.
Best of luck to all,
Steve H.

Hey Tom,
1:00 p.m. Central (usually). Lately we have been very close to on schedule. Does Warren have your Yahoo Messenger user name? If not, send it to him by PM, or post it here, and one of us will be sure you get an invite to the conference. Also, check your PMs.
It just occurred to me that you might not have a Yahoo Messenger account. Its free and easy to sign up (I know, I know, I sound like a commercial for Yahoo -- but it really is free and easy to do). If you don't have a Yahoo Messenger account you will need to get one, then send your user name to Warren. One word of caution -- if your computer is running the Vista operating system, you will have problems getting audio during the conference. Vista and Yahoo Audio do not play nice together. There is supposedly a fix for the problem, but I tried it and it did not work on my computer -- probably something I did wrong, but regardless, it did not work for me.
Let us know if you have any other questions,
Steve H.

...Didn't get any track time with the pickups, just hopin' we don't embarrass ourselves. Struggling with names as follows: The "Hillrod" (click here) I think we may end up calling either "Hillybilly Deluxe" (good album BTW...) or "The Deer Hunter" (in honor of the big giant bumper we added to the front) . The 1929 Model A (click here) we may end up calling "Old Timer", "Grandpa", "4 Banger", "See Ya Lucky" , not sure yet. With any luck we'll be on line Saturday for the Pickup show (can't wait to see PQ's). MPQIMH Bubba Warren / Steve: Guess we'll go with "Run Bambi Run" for the Hillrod with the deer catcher on the front and "Sour Mash Express" for the Model A. I'll send you a PM also to ensure you get the names. Bubba

Good afternoon ProQuest,
I appreciate the welcoming comments to racing at PWD Racing. Having a car or truck entered with the top speed demons of Pinewood Derby racing will be an experience for sure. For Team Firenze, obtaining greater speed and performance from the cars has come quite a distance since starting in Proxy racing. PWD Racing has many of the finest and fastest cars and builders.

Mr. Slick,
We are extremely glad to hear that both boxes arrived today. Any chance of verifying the condition of each car? This is the furtherest distance that we have shipped for a race.
Thanks,
Tom

I'll begin unpacking later tonight.
I have lots to do on the track still. . . . fabricate the angle braces for the trestles. These consist of an angle piece that bolts to the side rails and a piece that pivots up and connects to the trestle. I hope to get that done by 10pm.
So, around 10pm I will start unpacking the cars.
Checking in the cars takes about 6 minutes per car to tech/data entry/photograph. . . . If we have 30 cars I should be done by 3am.

Good Luck to everyone tomorrow !! I may not be on-line for the race. I have family in town and a few other things going on. If I can find time, I will definitely try to join in. I sent in Prozak (mod), Sinister-X (limited), Heavy Debt (stock) and Pyro (pick-up). I'm keeping my fingers crossed the Heavy Debt and Sinister-X run well. My shipping box arrived home last month with a hole in the side and both cars were damaged !? USPS tuning, you have to love it !! Lucky 13
