The 2008 season is starting to wrap up and there are some close point races going on !! So who's in for the November 1st race ?
I'll have a Limited, Stock and Modified as well as my "Pick-up Truck" for the specialty race. Who else is getting in on the "Pick-up Truck" race ?

Hey everyone. I'll be back. I only missed last month because I had the date mixed up. Not sure yet what I'm sending because they all need to be re-tuned. Waiting on orders from Derbydoc, Derbydominator, & Max V. Need to put in some serious practice time and If my math is correct I think I have at least 17 days to get my box shipped ;D Limited, Stock, Mod, & Pro-mod.

sure, that or you could just drive up. The fall colors are real nice. . . might even inspire a paint scheme. DocB, the latest update from USPS is that they were delivered at 8:15PM last night. . . . have you gone out for the paper yet?

My cars are in route back to me from this month's race. Assuming I get them, and can clean, lube and turn them around in time, I'll have the usual suspects: Wasabi, Bad Habit II, Ron, and with a bunch of luck, a pickup truck. I opened the pickup kit a few days ago and I really didn't know where to begin. We have two weekends between now and November 1, so hopefully, I can get my truck up and running. Once again I feel like I'm back in school asking myself why waited 'til the last minute to study for my final. It's all good. Steve H.

Max and I will try to get with the program when I get back from Pheasant hunting and build our Pickup Truck. I can assure you of two things... 1) it won't be pretty and 2) it won't be fast. LOL!
That's o.k., we'll have fun building it together. Sushi will be back to get whupped by a freshly re-lubed Wasabi, Mad Max will run in it's second to last Novice race before retirement, and I'll give the experimental work-in-progress car one more chance running oil (I'm hoping it will get faster the longer it sits in the basement!).
Slow
I never thought I'd hear my say this, but I'm kind of looking fowards to the end this years hunting adventures so I can start building a few Pure Stock cars for the 2009 season! Maybe a Stocker too. And if Wasabi sticks around in 2009... I've somehow gotta figure out how to get a Limited to go faster (fat chance of that happening!).

so, not having much experience with glue, how long does it take for wood glue to dry enough to sand when using balsa add-on bits for the pick-up

Warren, I've had good lucking using regular krazy glue (cyanoacrylate) for gluing balsa to pine or balsa to balsa. A nice benefit of using it is that it dries really fast.

Warren, I have spent some time around a local hobby shop where they sell everthing for building RC Airplanes made of balsa- according to the experts there good old fashioned model airplane glue (the kind our parents told us not to sniff) works the best. It's like $1.50 for a big tube. It sets fast and also seals & easy to sand off excess. Then brush on "dope" to seal it all in. That will also serve as primer, according to these guys. Sapp.

Well unfortunately it looks like I won't be racing this weekend I was trying to tune Out-of-time and pulled the rear wheels and axles. I really messed up the rear end alignment. In trying to fix the alignment, I ended up not only stipping the axle holes, but I also stripped the set screw holes. The car is now running .04 slower than last month and I still can't get the alignment to hold. arrrggggg. I don't think I can get it fixed in time to get it in. Old Yeller came back missing the needle axle earring backers again, plus the wooden holder for the car was broken. Don't know if I have the time to get it ready. I'll give it a shot. I'll still be on for the race! Steve 3cubdad

Sorry to hear that. The ear ring ends are sometimes bouncing around in the box. . . usually under some flap or piece fo packing stuff. What type of adhesive do you use to secure them?
So far Slkrnsnt and Lucky13's boxes have made it.
