Here is an open invitation to DerbyDad for Hire and all the other league gang to come join PWDR this month in racing.
I am extending my hand out to John and inviting him to come race with us. If any of the members of other league would like to race with us, we would be happy to have you. Our race is Oct. 27th, this is the final race in our regular season, the Nov. race is our season finals.
I have been asked before to mend the fence that has been built between the two leagues. I am trying to do that here and extend my hand to John and the other league racers. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you might have.

I would like to see John and his gang join us. Maybe next year there could be a true National Event?

I was hoping this would happen. Now I hope it does happen. I think if this fence is mended it would mean better attendance at both leagues and hence more revenue and we all could use that. I think there are already some guys that run in both leagues from time to time so hopefully they will talk to John about this.

Dumb question but is Derby Dad a member of this forum? How is he going to get the invitation?

I do not want to say who has been asking me to mend the fence, but it has been people from both leagues. I would assume that some people are asking John to do the same.
The offer has been made so we will see what will happen from here. Hopefully we will see more cross league racing. I know a couple guys from other league have raced at PWDR and a couple of our guys have raced there. Hopefully we can see more of that.
Spacewalker I think that in order to have a true national championship race that both leagues need to work together on it. Maybe there could be a governing body formed that makes the rules and such. Then it could be considered a true national event.

Nice to see the offer made Steve.
It's all you can do. Let the cards fall where they may. There are enough of the racers who run there that have open accounts here that any questions they have can be easily asked and answered. Any thoughts they have can be posted.

Casmier,
I know there are many members that have accounts at both leagues. I also sent John an email with the same information that has been posted here, that he has an open invitation to race.

Is this going to be a who blinks first contest? I am sending cars to the race this weekend to their race. I am a new racer that likes sending in cars to both leagues. I feel I can gain more experience by racing 2 times per month. I don't care why there is a broken fence that needs mending but I think that if both leagues start to cross over it might add 5 to 10 cars to most of the classes for both leagues. This means increased revenue for both and adds a new level of competition to both.
One would think that there could be 3 or 4 classes with the same rules so it would be easier to re-prep and just send them in to race 2 times per month. You guys could work out the details of a true National champion for those unified classes later. Maybe no governing board just 3 or 4 qualifying classes with Identical rules and the top 5 in each class race for the class National championship and the guys that finishes the best aggregate of the 3 or 4 classes is the true National champ of both leagues. The Derbymeister king/ man of the national championship hill/ mountain.
The NFL has the NFC and the AFC. Why can't we talk about something like that. Anyway I am a new guy with a lot of enthusiasm for league racing and can't for the life of me understand for the good and growth of the sport why we can't bury the differences of whatever the past was and move forward and have some fun. Just the ignorant new guys opinion but let's check the past into the the coat closet and try to have an enlightened discussion about the possibilities. If it don't work out than nothing changes and we race anyway.
I am just thinking out loud.

And if you guys hate what I just posted why don't the other league challenge the PWDR or vice versa to a team event throughout the year just for fun. There are a lot of great guys and builders at both leagues that should compete on some level. We all have one thing in common. We have all become addicted to the same sport. We all want to see it grow. We all want to have fun doing it.
I think we all have more in common than not in common. We are all competitors. We all agree that we do not have to agree but thid country was built on compromise.
That is all I have to say tonight. But Come on guys let's try. I will be posting similar thoughts at the other site.

Tosawylo,
That is what this thread is about. I have posted this publicly so that guys can see that I am all about trying to grow the sport and have the best interest of the racers at heart.
Without saying names as I have not asked these people if they want to have their names posted, I have been asked to extend an invitation to John to race with. Some people have felt that there has been a wall between the leagues and I want people to know that they are welcome here. To my knowledge there had only been two people banned from racing at PWDR and one of them was John. The members of other league have always been welcome to race with us. I am offering the same to John again. I was not the one to ban him, but I am the one that is unbanning him from racing with us. This is being done so that we can grow league racing. I have now extended that hand, but have not heard a reply from anyone.

There is some discussion on their message board about the invitation. It seams that if we are going to bring this all forward some will have to let go of the past and give it a try. What harm can be done by this once or twice. If it don't work out than nthing changes. I certainly applaud you and the PWDR guys for starting this conversation. Let's take the higher ground since the other league race is before the PWDR and send a couple of cars from some of our builders. I am going to and hope others will follow.
I have found in my business career the even though I do not want to making the first move in good faith speaks louder than words.
I will lead by example and will be running 2 classes with them. Now it will be tough because I will have to get my cars returned to me in the overnight mail to re-prep for the PWDR race the next weekend but to me it is worth it.

I would but I do not have enough time to get any cars ready a race this weekend. I am working today, Wed, and Thurs. There is not enough time for a me to build, prep, and send a car.

Well hopefully some of the other guys have something they can send in. I will do my best to represent PDWR. I will try to put the league name on one of my cars.
All I can say it is worth a try and if it does not work out we will have no regrets.

If you look at the schedules there is no way to race at both leagues without building cars for both leagues. Also you have to look at cost, just racing at PWDR I spend 154 dollars a month just for entry fees and shipping cost not to mention the money that goes for supplies like wheels axles and other needed parts to the puzzle. If schedules didn't lap where I could get cars back from one and mail to the other I might but it doesn't work right now.
