I thought I would share this article with you guys. We had a fundraising Pinewood Derby event for our District yesterday and a friend of Steve's showed up (see pic of 3 cars - ProQuest fan car down in front). Article: www.rrstar.com/news/x1633053551Even had the sort of paint, sort of stain, paint job. Note the Donkey Kong rail car lurking in the back. That was my older boy's car. He ended up being "adopted" to race by a local realty company, and placed 2nd. Very stiff competition in the top 4. Lots of fun!!! Bubba

Is the application to be adopted or to join the fan club? ;D Well, for 2008 I could see if they want to add a Proxy category. All fees do go to the local Scouts Pretty strict rules, though - 4 wheeler, no canting, no beveled axle heads or coned hubs, etc... Although, if it were an added class I guess I could recommend the Proxy race have it's own rules - maybe PWDracing.com limited or Stock rules. Any raceaholics interested? p.s. Here's a pic of the final 4. From left to right ended up 4th place, 2nd place, 3rd place, 1st place. Pretty similar builds in many respects.

Cool! If only another 2- or 3-hundred builders would make cars like mine -- with big holes drilled in the middle instead of those sleek, creative, interesting shapes like the rest of you are doing, and finish them with wipe-on wipe-off wood-stain instead of those silly air-brushed paint jobs (especially the ones with graphics -- yuck), I'll have started an official pinewood derby fad. It could be like the Art Deco era of pinewood derby. You guys know I'm just being silly. But seriously, the kid who built the car in the picture couldn't have been modeling his car after mine -- his car looks good. . ProQuest/Steve H. P.s., I do like the sound of a "ProQuest fan club" though .
