With many thanks and much respect to Bubba for his encouragement and directions ;D. I'm building my first HR66 for the BGN. I started with a picture of a 1930 Ford truck..... From there, I drew up some plans..... And here's the progress to date.. This one even has a working targa top on the bed! Chassis is a thin cut pine "chassis", I think you can see it in the background of one of the photos. It's a big axle HR66, but it sure is fun to build! Steve

I second what Bubba said !! Very cool ride Steve. Is that a computer program you use to draw out your designs ? I like how you guys are building a frame and then attaching the body. I might have to try that on my next Hot Rod 66.

Thanks guys!
Now if I could paint HALF as good as Lucky.....
Bubba, the blower is actually from a Pinecar accessories kit. At the end of Scout Derby season, I seem to end up with a bunch of odds and ends, canopies, motors, decals, exhaust pipes... They just go into the box for the next builds!
Bob, the software is just Microsoft Visio. It's very easy to draw and print to scale. Kind of a souped up version of microsoft paint. It's basically drag and drop. Doesn't require any real CAD skills.
I'm planning on going with the yellow like the picture it's based on, probably with some flames, just haven't come up with a name yet!

Here are the updated pics. Still trying to come up with a name. Any suggestions? I thought about Bumble Bee, or Tumble Bee, since it fell of the paint stand during the clear coat, (thank goodness there were no little ears around! ) All that's left is tuning! Steve

Very cool Steve! Ashlyn says she approves too. She says to name it "Bumble Rod".

...I thought about Bumble Bee, or Tumble Bee, since it fell of the paint stand during the clear coat, (thank goodness there were no little ears around! ) Steve In that case I think I'd go with "Yeller Jacket". Little double entendre with the "Yeller", one meaning drawn from the post-drop voice exercises and the other one drawn from the Kentucky pronunciation of the standard color Yellow i.e. "at shur iz wun faaaa-ceeee lookin yeller truck ya got thar, Steve. Wooooo... doggies, bet she cost a purty penny ur two". Otherwise, maybe "Mad Hornet"? Again, little extra meaning with the Mad... All that comes to mind right now. Bubba p.s. Sorry Lucky, couldan hep muh-self

Hey 3 cub,
I like Bumble Rod as well.
But just thought of another good name:
Ramblin' Wreck
That's the name of the Ga Tech mascot Model A Ford truck.
See ya

Well I felt there was something missing. Thanks to DerbyDoc, I was able to fix it! I mean, you can't have a hot rod without flames can you? A few coats of clear and it'll be done! Steve
