Well I finally found a little time to get started on my "Pick-Up Truck" for the upcoming specialty race !! I still have a lot of sanding, shaping, filling and all that fun stuff to do. I hope you all decide to get in on the race, so far this build has been a lot of fun !!

I found a little time in between building and tuning BGN cars to get some painting started on my "Pick-up Truck" for the November race. Here is a picture of the paint work so far...

Nice accent work Bob! Nice choice of colors, too! I actually picked up cans of "Sublime Green" and "Daytona Yellow" at the hobby store the other day during a brief moment of reckless abandon. By the time I got home, the inspiration fizzled and I would give it about a 50/50 chance that I end up exchanging them for sumpin' else. Have I told you how much of a struggle paint is for me. Just not my gig, man Bubba

Just not my gig, man Bubba Thanks Bubba !! I was doing a little web surfing and finally found a hobby store that was close to home. I stopped in hoping they carried airbrush paint. The store dealt almost entirely with RC cars and to my surprise carried a great selection of FASTCOLOR airbrush paints. Needless to say, I was very happy. I picked up some fluorescent purple, yellow and green all of which I've used on the truck so far along with some silver highlights. I need to decide on how I am going to do the windows and headlights now ? I may try to airbrush them on, if not, I need to find some decals. Any suggestions ? Lucky 13

Lucky 13For the yet to be named purple HR66, I just covered the body with frisket paper in all the right places and painted the windows on with Testors Black (28131 IIRC). You could probably do something similar for the headlights, just cut a circular hole (maybe use a dime?) in some frisket and use a silver / chrome paint? If you go with stickers, in the past I have used some PineCar black sticker sheets and cut to fit. You could check with the RC store and see if they have anything similar, those guys tend to have all kinds of different decals that can be cut to fit. Bubba
