Within the 2015 Northern Star Council Rules, would this car be legal? A #D printed car. The thing that you don't see is that it is built like several other styles with a 1/4" "frame" and the outer shell attached to the frame. You can see a sliver of the frame in the front view and through a couple of slits in floor in the side view. I would allow it the same as we allow the BSA stores' plastic body shells. This is using the 5th Element Materials WOOD filament. I believe that it is maple. Top, Front and Side views: Click for full image. The car bodies behind it are brass and normal plastic. The brass one needed a polish to bring out the shine!

NICE CAR!
I think that it would be legal but maybe adding some clarification to the following rules would be a good idea.
2.1 The main body structure (chassis) must be made of wood. The car design may be enhanced by the addition of other stable materials such as plastic or metal. Any additions must be firmly attached and meet car size specifications.
2.6 At least 4 wheels must be attached to the sides of the car body. Each wheel must be attached to the car's wood chassis with a legal axle.

I think the clarification is very helpful. When are we going to get the 2016 rules reviewed? I would like to have it done by the end of the September race so we can have them posted/published by the Fall University of Scouting. Fall 2015 University of Scouting will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 8:00AM-4:30PM at Osseo High School Fall 2015 University of Scouting

I like those clarifications too.
The car looks totally legal to me either way.
