Running Hot Wheels down the center guide rail?

I wish I could remember where I saw this, but a dad in the past couple of years posted that their pack/district/council/whatever ran a special race for the little kids where they could bring their favorite Hot Wheel car to race down the center guide rail on a Best Track. It apparently worked for them. I mentioned this to the district race folks yesterday and they loved the idea. However, when they tested it out, they could not get the Hot Wheel cars to fit inside the guide rail.

Does anyone remember reading about using Hot Wheels inside the guide rail, or how to make it work?

I googled pwd tracks. Derbymagic tracks can be oredered with the option to be able to run Hot Wheels. There may be more, but that's the first one I found.
