Very cool! Luke is going to love it! I talked to him today at church, he's all excited. BTW part of the deal for him was to improve his reading score so he'd be "eligible to play". His mom said he's done well in club and at school!

Scubersteve, Nice craftsmanship, body shape, and color combination! Firenze, I'm not gonna lie, I looked long and hard at some of your cars before I built this one. It's definately not to the caliber of your workmanship, but I'm pretty happy with it. Hopefully the kid who gets it will be too.

I may do another one like this as a HR... Should qualify for the height requirement with that rear wing right?

Remember not only does it have to meet the height it also has to have a 1" square area at that height. You can do it!!!

well that wing is .7" wide and 2.75" long so I guess I'm all set then...
cool
I think that design would look good with razors on the front anyway.

It would need to be at least 1"x1" square. Just make it a little wider and it sounds like it could meet the rules.
It is a great looking car and I bet it will be quick.

oh, so it is a literal square inch not just total surface area at that height?
I always thought it was the other way... good to know

I'm sorry but, I don't believe that the car would qualify for HR66.
B. The spirit of the Hot Rod 66 class is to build a car that resembles an old "Hot Rod". The intent of the Hot Rod 66 division is to get away from the plank/wedge designs that are so commonly used in the other divisions and to build a car with character. We require racers in the Hot Rod 66 division to stay away from the wedge/plank design and hope they enjoy building their interpretation of a Hot Rod.
D. The body must have at least a 1"x1" area that is as high as a stock block (around 1.75" from the track surface with wheels on) (the idea is give some style and not a wedge). Maximum height is 2 7/8" from track surface.

Because this is clearly not a "plank" and is one of my "interpretation(s) of a hot rod" I say let it run! There was a car that ran the other month that looked like an older style Indy car. There was also a van last year and some other car from that builder that really didn't resemble any particular car. That car in question is surely not a plank. Look at some of the other cars that currently are running. Can you tell me what year or make that they represent? I am building a new HR66 for the 2nd half. It is not an American made car. It is a car from around the late 60's early 70's. I have seen some of these made into drag cars and they have low drag coefficient. For the past year..........there have been many different ideas of what a hotrod is/was supposed to be. I think there maybe should be a line drawn some where, but look at the attendance last race.........2 cars! Don't make it hard on the builders and discourage them. I say let the builder's exercise their imaginations as long as their cars fall within the rules. (height, width, length, weight, etc.)

I agree Bill everybody has different ideas of a hot rod so keep it simple. I wouldn't look at a van as a hot rod but someone else did so get a 1"x1" surface 1.75" off the track and follow the rest of the rules and run them. My 2 cents!
