A tribute to Spacewalker - this car is called "Dale".
I remember the first time I saw Spacewalker "Uranus". I saved the pic to my desktop - and said someday.... The plan for this came to be a couple on months ago. When Evo announced he would run Pure Stock in December I knew it was time to build this car.
This car has WAY more hours into it then any other I have built - mostly in paint. I painted the car in a White Pearl - and it was BEATIFUL - but taking a long time to harden - so I placed in the dehydrator - but forgot to turn the heat down - couple hours later I checked the car and the paint had bubbled up - Ughhh . My only option was to scrape the paint off - and sand back to the wood.
Now I only had enough of the Pearl White for a topside coat - and I had to get the paint job perfect the first time. No extra paint in the event I have a bubble or run that needs to be sanded out and resprayed. Well in hindsight I probably should have recognized this was a bad plan and spayed a different white - but the pearl was just so nice. Needless to say the paint fish-eyed in a few spots - so once again - sanded back to wood. By now I think I had 24 hours into sanding - painting - scraping - sanding - painting - scraping sanding......
Third time is a charm - finally I went to a Duplicolor white (non pearl) - paint came out fine. phew..... ;D - I need an ABA after all that...
Anyway - this is my first fender car - I like the way it looks but it feels like a truck to me. Not much time to tune - so I'm not sure how much speed "Bill" will have - but I like this car and will take some time to properly tune after the December race. ;D <for weighting I threw on a set of orange wheels - looked sharp with orange - so maybe next time I try a different set of sneakers>
