I feel your pain. I can't get any speed out of mine either. I probably won't even send it in. Yours looks good though.

I love the car 5J's... Send it and see what happens. I wish I had some words of wisdom on fast stockers, but I don't. I have built 3 stockers in the last few months and the one I am running now was the only one I could get to run. I am actually afraid to tear it apart and reprep, but I will have to go for it to find some speed before the December race.

This is Murph's Recipe for a Stocker.
Use good wheels that don't wobble. Be careful handling the wheels if they are BSA. Take a little of the thread material off of the wheels to make them smoother. My old stockers run 3/8" COM in front of rear axle. Bend the hell out of the front DOM Axle. Make the body very light in the front. I reinforce the front axle holes with epoxy because the body is just slightly thicker than the axle. I do not use balsa as a filler on my old style cars. I just smooth out the edges inside the bottom of the body.

well, it's been a long night but I found a little speed in Jackal. Not likely anything for the big boys - but I put a lot of time into this car and want at least a respectable run. I think it will do that for me Phew - up in less then three hours... Night all... Or good morning Spacewalker - I know you'll be up shortly, followed by BSB ;D BTW Bill - how did I do with the peg? It works okay, but next time I think I need to make it about 1/16" longer.

Just make sure you if you make it longer it doesn't touch the track at the curve.
