Well I finally got the rules for district race from dist. director. Here is the note she wrote on front page. "One modification I need to make. The rules state that you must use the pieces that are in the Grand Prix box. The only exception is the wheels.BSA colored wheels are acceptable replacements". "Also these rules DO NOT forbid the moving of axle slots to make wheels farther apart. They took this rule out last year and I'm not putting it back in".
So, this means we can run an extended wheel base. There is no mention of four wheels on track. So we will run three. But does first rule amendment mean we can use the Derby Worx Speed wheels as long as they have lettering and say BSA Wheels in description. There is nothing about weight of wheels. It does say polishing or smoothing may not result in reduced tread( track contact) width from original kit. The words " Official BSA Made in USA" and other lettering must be clearly visible to inspector. "The excess ridge from casting process of wheel may be removed". Tread surface must maintain original 1/4 in. width.
Would an extended wheel base car be that much faster? Probably so running three wheels and replacing wheels with the DW speed wheels, Huh?

Scotty, After receiving these rules, if I were you, I would seriously consider building a new car with an extended wheelbase, 3 wheels touching and a set of the Derby Worx Inertia Lites, which I believe are now 1.4 grams each and retain all the "Official BSA" lettering inside and out. Can I buy a BSA kit with a block that has extended wheelbase and has slots instead of holes?

Can I buy a BSA kit with a block that has extended wheelbase and has slots instead of holes? Contact Andy Lester (Lester Racing), he may be able to help you out with that !! You may also want to contact the Pinewood Chair and ask them if you can use drilled axle holes since extended wheelbase is allowed. Lucky 13

Our rules do not address the weight of the wheel or the thickness of tread, so we are going with lightened wheels. While I think that sort of violates the spirit of the rules-- I did not make the rules and since they are not outlawed there probably WILL be lightened wheels at the race. My kid is sure gonna be one of them. If there is one thing that I learned on the Texas Beauty Pageant circuit--- you use EVERY advantage and use it well!!! Squeeze every scintella of performance out of anything you are doing. LOL!

Hey Scoutmom, How is everything? That's the way I interpreted the rules about wheels also. And we can even have extended wheelbase and one wheel up at our upcoming district race. As much as I would like to use our car we ran at the pack race, if we do, we will be at a big disadvantage. So..... I just got home from Derby Monkey Garage. We are going to push the envelope with this one. I'll try to post pics as it progresses.
