We need to decide what to do for the 2009 season regarding the use of bearings in the Pro-Modified Division ? There has been a lot of debate over this issue. In keeping with PWDRacings tradition of letting the racers decide, we have put up a poll. Please take a minute and vote. Remember, majority rules ! Here is a complete breakdown of the 2 options...
Option 1: Keep the previously posted 2009 Pro-Mod division rules, and do not create a new division. Needle axle Pro-Mods and Bearing cars will compete directly against each other in a single class. There will be no separate results, records or points. After three months we will re-evaluate, and again after 6 months.
Option 2: Split the Pro-Mod Class into two classes: "Pro-Mod" and "Extreme Pro-Mod." Bearings would be legal in "Extreme Pro-Mod" only. The two classes would run together on race day, but the results would be kept separately and there would be separate track and single run records as well as points and year end awards. If enough cars are entered in both classes, then we would run them separate on race day.

If I build a needle car I would rather race a needle car.
I also believe we need a place to promote and try all new and extreme ideas... an outlet for those more creative individuals who have the talent and resources to implement some of those CRAZY ideas. We should always be on the look-out for more speed in order keep this sport from growing stagnant. Maybe an UNlimited division. Truth be known, the Pro divisions were probably created with that intent.
My 2 cents worth.
Merry Christmas everybody, Mike $

We want to hear from you on this, especially if you raced in the Pro-Mod division in 2008, or if you think you might enter the Pro-Mod division in 2009, please vote.

My vote is option 2. Keep the needles & bearing separate for division & point purposes- maybe just call the other class "Extreme Open" but keep the body & weight spec's as is. If we start allowing bearings- we may as well start allowing springs & other creative ideas too. But, the existing pro-mod class really has become the "Experts" division IMO.

My vote is option 2. The separate divisions will keep it fun, interesting and it will give me a good reason to build another car! Looks like I may have to start building now!!!!!

Poll is closed. Thank you to everyone who took time to vote and express their opinions. The new division "Extreme Pro-Modified" will be added for the 2009 season. Bearings will not be allowed in Pro-Modified now.
Thank you,
