Hi everyone. We switched to a new pack this year and they haven't had a derby for years due to low enrollment. Now that enrollment is up, we are having the first one in some years. I am used to running the derby with the grand prix software. This year I don't have the software anymore (it belonged to our old pack) and there is only a "finish line" on this track, which has to be eyeballed. What is the best way to go about scheduling the race? We have about 20 cars, so shouldn't be that complicated, but will not have an exact count until raceday. Obviously, we will have to go by a points system.
Any suggestions?
Enrico

That would stink for the Scouts !! You may want to checkout DerbyTalk, they have a lot of info on running races without the use of software !! Lucky 13

How many runs down the track do you want each boy to get? Bubba

Bubba, 3 lane track with six races per scout. Was just going to come up with an excel spreadsheet for it. It is a very laid back race, they wanted the cars "around" 5oz. on weigh-in night.

Try this link, it allows you to custom make a chart for running and scoring a race.

Under "Select type of output" be sure to select "Chart and Scoring grid."
Hope this helps!

Thanks David, worked like a charm! This was the first time we ever raced without a finish line and timer. Never again. I will buy the pack a timer, finish line, and software. Pretty much ended up with a 3 way tie using a points system, because of lane variances.
