3cub, pwd sugests that after winning the novice division 3 times that you move on to other divisons. We do not run novice anymore so i was just making sure that no one had a problem with us running for one month in novice. We know that my sons car can't keep up with cars that have light wheels ,since the last 3 derbys we were beat by cars with light wheels.very discouraged with scout racing this year, jacobs car did well this year the only 3 cars he lost to had lightened wheels. i don't know why they need to do that. jkracing kelly Kelly, Your son is welcome to race his car in the novice division, after all, he is new to league racing !! I'd let him pick a racing name and jump right into the mix !! You never know, he might end up the next Novice champ !! Lucky 13

3cub, you are right about a whole thread on cubs and lightened wheels. so i will leave it for derby talk or something like that. the lightened wheels are not allowed in our district either. jkracing kelly

Hi Warren, I have been a volunteer leader in Cub Scouts since 2004. Serving both as a Den Leader and now Cubmaster. Two of my sons have gone on to Boy Scouts. I have third son who will be a Tiger in the fall of 08. With all of that we have been able to put together some competitive cars in various years finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th twice at the big race at the Mall of America. I don't think my older boys are willing to give it up yet and your organization is very interesting. I will try to familiarize myself more by looking through your website.

Greetings teamsicora:
I've been racing at PWDRacing for just over a year, and am having a blast. Check the league out!!! The culture here is a nice balance of casual and competitive. Although many of the fastest builders in the business race here, and the competition is tough, everyone is willing to share what they know and offer help to others. I hope you join the fun.

Just found out about this board from Derby Doc. Until now I've just been going to the Derby Worx forum.
I am the race director for the Myrtle Lake Baptist Church Pine Car Rally. My church is in Land O Lakes, FL and we've been running pinewood derbies for four years now. We've had the pleasure of some of the league racers competing with us and look forward to more participation from "da pros" in the future.
We run four division: Kids Stock (1st - 5th graders), Teen-Adult Stock (self explanatory), Royal Racers (1st - 5th graders according to Royal Ambassador rules) and Outlaw Modifieds (WIRL rules).
We just ran the Fourth Annual MLBC Pine Car Rally a few weeks back. We had 30 entries and made $200 for the church ministry.
Our races are run in July and the entry fee is only $5 per car. It provides a great opportunity for league racers to test their cars out in lighter competition before big league events. I send the times and a performance rating.
This year Tom Tyson ran with us. In the past we've had entries from Larry Reed and a car of Kevin Baughan (I hope I spelled that right, he is also known as Derby Master).
I look forward to reading these message boards for further education purposes and be on the lookout for event information on the next MLBC Pine Car Rally.

Hey guys how are you all doing.I have been popping in and reading the board for a little while now and thought I would sign up. The blue grass race looked like allot of fun. Its not all that far of a drive from where I am at. I hope I can make it next year. I may have a few questions about the rules you guys run with though.I may be trying to pick a few brains here in the future.

Hey Sarge,
Welcome, we're glad you are here. You are right about the Bluegrass. I don't know anyone who attended that didn't have a blast. The PWDR rules have been recently updated for 2009, so ask any questions you like, you won't be alone.
Again, welcome,
Steve H.

I'm pretty new here myself (my son Max and I found PWDR just this June after our first year in Cub Scouts) but everyone here has been super helpful in helping us get up to speed and more than willing to help novices such as ourselves learn more about building cars. The Bluegrass race was really a high point of my entire year as it was great to finally meet many of the guys who I've communicated with here and on the other boards. What a great group of guys! I hope you can send in some cars to a few of the monthly races (perhaps on the PDDR off-months?), and I look forward to meeting you in July at the 2009 Bluegrass race! Steve B.

Welcome Sarge! Hope you can get all the help you want. . . everyone else has so far so feel free to ask your questions. One of the special things about this group is that information is freely shared - no secrets allowed. . . but you do have to ask the questions. The builders won't just share their "special" techniques unless you ask them. . . I've asked and I just can't do it like they can! I'm focusing on the track so ask me about that! The new rules will be posted as soon as I finish my final review. . . they would have been done beofre the race last week if I had gotten through them.

Hey Guys, I have been away from Proxy racing for a while, and I have yet to race at PWDR, but I intend to send in a car for the Feb. 14 race. I just hope you guys don't smoke me too badly! Regardless, I'm looking forward to racing here at PWDR. David (Quillen Racing)

Hey, is there anyone else on here from TEXAS? North Texas or southern Oklahoma? We live in north Texas and it would be nice to know someone else from this area.
