Hello everyone. Today is my son's pack build day and we are very excited. We are also very excited to do some League racing this year. We set out to do it last year but fell on hard times shorty after getting registered. A special thanks to Goatboy for responding last year, you signed on about the same time we did. Being newbie I have a couple questions about the league racing. Are the classes and class rules the same as 09. Are all classes ran at each event. It seems I having touble getting some of this info to pop up on the site. Any help is greatly appreciated. Graviton Racing (formally hot rod eddy). Graviton Racing, I myself joined around the same time as you and Goat Boy. It was a pretty busy year with plenty of racing. So, welcome back. All the classes from 09' are the same. The rules have been changed to reflect the new stock BSA wheels and a clearance change. A quick summary as detailed by Lucky 13 in the question and answer section: 1. There is no longer a minimum 3/8 clearance rule. Cars will just have to be built to clear the center rail of the track. 2. The new BSA wheels will be allowed for use in the Pure Stock Division. 3. Limited Division cars will now be allowed to run any wheelbase and have no 4th wheel requirement, but will still be required to use the "old" 3.3- 3.6 gram BSA wheels !! There are still a ton of the "old" style BSA wheels out there and we thought it would be cool to still have a division around for another season for everyone to use up their inventory of "old" wheels. If you need any further help feel free to ask. steepslope

Graviton Racing, It's great to have you on board with us here at PWDRacing.com !! As Steepslope pointed out, we didn't make very many rule changes for the 2010 Season. The ones we did make are outlined in his post. To see the complete rules for each division, just look in the threads that are dedicated to each division (pure stock division, limited division, stock division, etc..). The rules will be at the top of the thread. All the divisions are raced at each event and every now and then we throw in a specialty class just for fun. If you have anymore questions, Please feel free to ask them. Lucky 13

Thanks guys. As I stated earlier I was not able to compete last year but have tried to keep up with things by checking all the league sites. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions and do almost everything wrong as most rookies do in any kind of racing. Thanks Again. Graviton Racing.

The build went great for my sons and the rest of the pack. The end result was even better,we won the pack and the sibling race. I know it's been a week for this response but these little blocks of wood can eat up some time! Graviton Racing

tbone, you are correct when you said you came to the right place. Our pack race is also Feb 13 and i know Steepslope is also excited to get a trophy along with my son on that day. there are alot of things you can do but you need to check the rules first. in some scout levels you really have to be careful on what you do so when you make it to the next level so you dont get disqualified. there are sections at the bottom that can tell you alot and if there are any specific questions go to Almost Anything goes and post there. Good luck jj/wipr

I haven't been doing it long enough to give you any secrets or special advice. But as far as a tip goes... go see the Derby Monkey!!! My son and I went there this afternoon and it was great! We stuck the ales in after we got there then ran on his test track. It was O.K. but then he helped me with the axle bending( or really he did it for me), then showed me how to adjust it to make it ride the rail. That made it quite a bit faster. All in all just a great guy to take the time to show us that stuff and let us use his track. Neat place too. I can see me working my schedule around to be going through Tyler when he's open. Thanks alot Derby Monkey. Glad I found this board. Now I kinda sorta know what I'm doing. Or at least I can say the big words. Scotty

What JJ said is correct. There are plenty of adjustments you can make to the car to make it super fast. First thing you need to do is check your rules. Can you use Krytox? Or does it stipulate no oil, only graphite. If you are allowed oil I don't think you need to groove your axles. Others here can chime in on this. Can you use extended wheel base? If you can then do so. At the pack level an extended wheel base adds stability and helps compensate for a rough track. The new wheels are pretty good out of the box. There are various vendors, several that post here, that you could purchase some pro stock wheels that should conform to your rules. So, read the rules and look for the areas where you can improve your son's performance. Can you cant, railride, and use a raised wheel? If so, a combination of these "tricks" can give you two a District winning caliber car. steepslope
