Proquest, Derby Dominator and others in path of Ike,
May you be safe as Ike prepares to hit the Texas coast. It looks to be a nasty storm. We will keep you in our prayers and thoughts.

ProQuest.. We have a saying in Florida:
"Hunker Down or Get Outta Town"
Seriously, the FAST family is praying for everyone in Ike's path.

I just put Mad Max to bed, and we talked about Mr. ProQuest (the maker of the mighty Wasabi, Max knows this stuff!) and his Max, and we said a prayer together for the whole ProQuest family and all of the other Pinewood Derby guys and their families who also might live in the path of Hurricane Ike. Max also asked me if there is a Mrs. ProQuest, and I said "yes, Max, I think so" and Max added in Mrs. ProQuest to his prayer as well. Max is a good dude.

Thanks to all;
Your concern, your well wishes and prayers are very greatly appreciated. Apparently we are in the direct path of the storm. It is large but only moderately intense. Derby Dominator and I both live about 70+ mile inland, and projections say we will see 80+ mph winds and heavy rain for 10-12 hours. So, if the projections are right, it won't be fun, but we should be fine.
Slow Steve, you are right about your Max. He is a good Dude. Tell him that there most definitely is a Mrs. Proquest, of 19 years (in October), without whom I wouldn't be writing you now. She will appreciate being including in y'all's prayers.
Thanks again everyone. Better get back to boarding the house, storm is only a few hours away. Later.

One last thing, Would someone mind writing down my times. My Limiteds are "Wasabi" and "Waza", my Stock is "Bad Habit", and my Mod is "Ron." In case you are wondering where the name "Ron" came from, I had planed to build two new Mods for the BGNs, and I was going to call them "Ron" and "Hermione" (pronounced Her-my-nie), both of whom are side kicks in the Harry Potter series. Ron (the car) made its debut at the BGN, but Hermione is still on the drawing board (along with three others that I didn't get around to finishing. Docb: I always keep plenty of duck tape on hand. To anyone who can help me out, I'd be much obliged. Steve H.

Greetings from Texas:
I've received so many messages, and even calls expressing concern and offering prayers and well wishes, that I thought I should post to let everyone know that the ProQuest Family made it through Hurricane Ike unscathed. We were extremely fortunate. Other than a lot a debris in the yard, we sustained no injuries or damages to any of our property. Many of our neighbors did not fair nearly so well. Large trees are downed all over the subdivision and many fell on homes causing severe damage. My residence is still without power (as of 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday), and estimates of how long before it is restored have ranged from several more days to several weeks. My office downtown has power, so my access to the Board will be limited for a bit longer and I may be scarce for a while.
Again thanks to all who called, messaged, prayed and kept us in your thoughts.
Steve H.

Steve and family,
Glad to hear you made it through Hurricane Ike without any big problems.
The winds seemed to be a little stronger inland than they expected. I know when Ike passed through Indiana it was still pretty windy.
I'll keep you guys in my prayers and I hope they get your power back on soon.

Glad to hear you and your family are doing fine Steve.
I know how much of a bummer not having electricity can be. After Hurricane Fran a few years back, we went 15 or 16 days without power. I found out there were an awful lot of different cards games to be played with a deck of cards. Hang in there.

Hope you get things back to normal! Take heart, gravity still works with out electricity so your cars can make it to the bottom of the test track! I can't add high enough to work with cards. . . .

We got power back on Sunday -- 17 days after it went out. One of the best parts of having electricity is not having to listen to the generator going 18 hours/day.
All in all, it wasn't a bad experience. Some of it was actually fun. Two nights after the storm -- before we had the generator -- it was particularly hot and humid. I got out the old mobile VCR (remember those? They plug into the cigarette lighter in the car). We grabbed an old tape (Night Shift -- one of my favorites), the five of us (me, wife, two kids and dog) spent the evening in the SUV, with motor running, a/c blasting, all with our necks craned to watch a movie on a 5" diagonal screen. Talk about a bonding experience.
Anyway, nearly all is back to normal. Still have a little work to do to get the yard back to it's pre-Ike condition, and some roof repairs, but otherwise, its business as usual.
Thanks to all for your thoughts, prays and words of encouragement throughout.
Steve H.
