Anyone up for a Super Stock division? It would be kinda like the new "Modified" division, except that it would be for stock cars. Think of it like the Pro-Stock division with standard sized axles (no needle axles). Either long or short wheel bases would be allowed, but you would have to use wide wheels (any brand) and full sized axles.
This would give builders who don't want to use needle axles another option.
What I have in mind is similar, but not exactly like the Rookie Division. The main difference would be that lightened wheels would be allowed in the Super-Stock Division, including 1 gm and SS wheels, but needle axles would not be allowed. As you know, the PWDRacing Rookie Class does not allow lightened wheels of any kind. Also, at the risk of stating the obvious, you wouldn't have to be a Rookie to enter the Super-Stock Division. Basically, it would have the effect of dividing the Pro-Stock Class into two divisions, one that allows needle axles and one that does not.
It is really the same principal that gave rise to the new "Modified Division" (which is just like the Pro-Modified Division except that needle axles are allowed in "Modified" but not Pro-Modified). Hope that makes sense.

For what its worth, one of the other leagues runs a Super-Stock division like what I'm talking about. Adding the division to PWDRacing might attract racers who are already running in that class elsewhere. Just a thought.

Given the caliber of competition in this league, that is quite a compliment. Thanks Da Pine. You aren't doing too badly yourself. Menace missed the top spot by just a hair.
It won't hurt my feelings if the consensus is that we don't need any more divisions. It just seems to me that there is a gap between the Limited division where no modifications are allowed, and the Pro-Stock division where you have to run needle axles to be competitive. The Super-Stock Division would fill that gap by adding a "wide wheel" division that allows most modifications except needle axles.
Thanks to those who have given feedback. Everyone else -- tell us what you think. Thanks.

Steve, I think that would be a great idea. I am probably not alone in saying that I am a little gun-shy trying use needles for the first time. I have a hard enough time with standard size axles. I would go as far as to say I think that a class with big axles, light wheels and extended wheelbase, would eventually be the most popular class of all. It would also be a good place for rookies, who may not want to have to change all their cars to a standard wheelbase, to move up to. I have only been around a few months, so I don't want to sound like I know more than anyone else, but that is the way I see it.
I am fine with the idea as well. I drafted some rules up for the new division and am just waiting to hear back from Warren. I think the new division will be called the "Stock Division" since the term "Pro-Stock" has similar value to the term "Super Stock".
