Guys & Gals I found out yesterday that I made a milestone in my professional driving career. My safety department called to inform me that on 11/25/12, I had surpassed my million miles. Therefore, next July 1,2,3 in Orlando Fl. I will be inducted in to the MILLION MILER CLUB!!!!
This is a very"unique club".The only way to get in, is if you have surpassed a million miles of driving an "18 wheeler" without a preventable accident or commercial vehicle violations.
Just something to think about: it will take the average automobile driver more than 83 years to accomplish what I've done in 12 1/2 years. So from the time you get your drivers license, you will be just shy of your 100th Birthday!!!

I am sure you are darn proud of the fact you are accident free for a million miles! I figure at 12,000 miles a year, I only have 552K racked up! I'm only a little over halfway there! So that means I have another 46 years or so to get there........YIKES that would make me 108!

Congrats Terry! With all those miles that you have driven, is there one unique story that you have that would be of interest to us?
I know many friends who drive or who have driven trucks. I still remember your truck parked in front of Lucky's shop for the 2010 PWDR Finals Race. I think Caz and Evo were there.
I remember that day well because I thought I had a fast stocker and you just blew my doors off! Additionally, Donaldson took the Pure Stock record which I coveted at the time.
Everyone regards you as the "teacher" and you thought me well. The day of Lucky's race, you thought me so much.
As a result of your help, my car, that you smoked in the 2010 finals, still has the PWDR Stock record. Without you I would have never found speed. You are truly an exceptional person and a smokin fast racer! Regards, Murph

Does that average person estimate include people who get lost all the time and have to turn around??
Congrats!

Murph
I could write a book on things I see, places I been, and about some of crazy loads that haul.
But heres one story that comes to mind, back in Sept. 1999 I got a call from one of my agents needing help covering a load, so I said sure I'll help you out.
That evening I showed at my appointed time to load, and it was a whole load of custom made windows going to the new Mellon Bank down town Pittsburgh, Pa. WOW I thought to myself you big dummy what did I get myself into?
Once they loaded my truck they informed me, they had already shipped 5 loads prior to this one and NOT ONE HAS MADE IT WITHOUT BEING DAMAGED, plus they told me the plant Manager and several of his supervisors would be meeting me the next morning to check the damage. I told the kid loading me" being it on" because there was not going to be any damage.
I arrived the next morning at the job site, and like the kid said they were all their. They watched as they unloaded my truck window by window and as the final one can off the plant Manager came over to me shook my hand, and said I can't believe there is "NO DAMAGE" would you like to haul the rest of our windows to this job site?
I ask how many loads was he talking about, and he said it will take until next April to finish up this contract and that my friends was the beginning of all fall, winter, and spring run.
Oh one more thing they gave me keys to there gate so I could park my trailer inside, they would load it during the day, I would come after they close get my trailer and go to Pittsburgh every day without one window being damaged. Plus I was home every day to be with my family, and talking about family my son was 11 months old when I started this run, so one evening my wife couldn't make home in time to watch our son, and the babysitter was sick so I strapped Blake in truck in his car seat and off we when.
The worker's at job site though it was cool that I had my 11 month old son with me in the truck and that was the beginning of my son riding in the truck. Thats why today we have such a special bond between us.

Love the story about Blake! I know that it has been fun watching him and Steven grow into the young men they are!

Terry, Pretty cool when a customer challenges you and you deliver! The ideology around building strong relationships between vendors and industry is embedded heavily in "lean" philosphy that I strongly leverage in my new role with my new job. Thanks! Murph

The first time I met Terry, he was haulin' a 5 ounce load for me from Cambridge, Ohio to Lima Ohio. It arrived undamaged and we have been great friends ever since.
Now for the rest of the story.... I met Evolution for the first time at my 1st national event in Somerset, KY. He was kind enough to offer to help me tune/prep a graphite car (I was oil only), and he took it home with him. Unfortunately, Evo had to work and couldn't make it to Lima, so he sent the car via his friend Terry.
Now you know the rest of the story...
