I finally got some time after Lima to finish painting my sons cars that he raced there and a couple new limited stock cars I had sitting around. While I was painting I also had time to get the boys BSA cars painted. Their derby isn't until March, but, it's never to early ;D !! I'm finally getting my airbrush figured out !! I think Now if I could figure how to take good pictures ?? Lucky 13 scout cars new limited cars My sons Lima cars

Very nice Lucky. I agree with Docb -- your paint work has really taken off. Looking forward to seeing them on the track.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I agree with you FAST, the dark blue with flames is nice. It's a toss up for me between it and my sons blue with green flames BSA car. The picture just doesn't do it much justice. The iridescent green on the front is sharp against the candy blue ! I just need to get better with a camera !! Lucky 13

Hey Lucky Cars look awesome!
what kind of mask are you using to paint your flames?
I was curious what way you have found works best, painting the base color the flame color, then the car color 2nd? or car color then mask the flames and paint flames over top? and how many coats of each color, and clear?
I also assume you are using an air brush? what paint and clear are you using.
Thanx

I get my paint stencils through www.derbydoc.com or on ebay through a seller named 17clm. I paint the whole car whatever color I want first, then after it is thoroughly dried I apply the flame mask and tape off the rest of the car. I use a PAASCHE VL airbrush and compressor to paint the flames. I put down a very light silver base coat first and then the color I want the flames to be. Go very light on the flame paint. I can't really give you an amount of coats, I just go with the least possible to achieve what I'm looking for. If you put too much down you will get thick edge lines !! Just remember less is better. After the flames have completely dried I peel the mask off VERY slowly and apply 2-3 coats of clear. I use FASCOLOR and CREATEX airbrush paints. Hope this answers your questions, if you have anymore just let me know. Take care, Lucky 13
