Cars can accumulate points for their lifetime the same as builders. Unlike the other leagues, we have TWO sets of points, one for the cars and one for the builders. :-)
We are trying to set a new mindset in that a new car can be started in mid season and not have a limited life and that January is not the end of everything and the beginning of all things new.
We award trophies to the top BUILDERS in each division based on points they earn from their cars. A builder gets the points from the TOP placing car in the division. A car can only earn points for the builder for the first 12 races.
So it is possible, for example, that 3 years from now Fox is still winning races and getting points for itself but Fred would have to have another car in the division to earn builder points.
Once I get the recognition items in hand I'll post some photos and I hope that things will become clearer for everyone. . . .

Hey Warren:
When you say "A car can only earn points for the builder for the first 12 races," do you mean for the first 12 months? If I raced a car one time every two months over a 24 month period, the car would have raced for 12 races at the end of that time, would all those races count for the builder, or would only the first 6 races count for the builder? Sorry, but I 'm just a little confused.
Thanks,
ProQuest/Steve H.

Hey Steve, my understanding is that the car is eligible for 12 months after it races for the first time. For example, if I raced Key Lime Pine for the first time in August, I would be able to earn builder points with her thru July of the next year.
Taken straight from the guiding principles on pwd league home:
"A builder will only get points from a car for the first 12 months from when it is first raced at PwdRacing."
Hope this helps.

The original idea was for a year of monthly racing. I suppose if your car needs to rest up after each race it could be argued that the first 12 races would be used. . . actually what I was thinking when I was designing some of the data extraction process. With the points being accounted for on the spreadsheet I figured I had a whole year to get the database version running and connected. . . well, the year is pretty much over and I don't have it done yet. . . . The spreadsheet is reset each CALENDAR year which I have to adjust for allowing multiple years for a car, July-June for instance. So either way I have some work to get done. (but first I need to find a track!)

Bob,
So are we going with 12 races or 12 months?

Bob, So are we going with 12 races or 12 months? This is a decision Warren/Scott and the person who does the points is going to have to make !! (IMO) Tracking a car for 12 months consecutive after it's first race is probably a lot easy than 12 races at random. Lucky 13

PWD is going to stick to the current method, 12 consecutive months after a car is first raced.
