Using a 42 foot BestTrack, with the middle timing holes, what is a good, better, best time that people are seeing?
We have had 5 boys who have broken the 3.000 level on the tuning tracks.
Our tuning tracks run about .015 behind the league track.
For the Pack level races we were helping kids get tuned to better than 3.100, at which point we said that they can tune any additional on their own.

With a 27.1 degree slope and an end to end level flat, I would say good 3.1xx, better 3.0xx, best 2.9xx. It takes oil to get below 3 seconds. Best for graphite has been about 3.0xx.

Here are some data points for you.
I helped a family build a couple cars for their scout and sibling. The dad took both cars to your tuning tracks and the fastest one (the siblings car) did a 2.99. He said he ran it down once and you guys yelled "box it up!" ;-)
At our pack race, there were 4 cars that were faster. All of which I had a hand in building (I helped several families this year). This is a pack owned Freedom track that was also used for districts last year. On that track, this car was averaging around 3.10 which would have been a top 5-10 car last year at our district race.
The other faster 4 cars were averaging around 3.06 on this Freedom track. So that's around 2.95 on the tuning track. I'd wager that all of these cars would be contending for #1 in most of the district races.

On the tuning tracks 2.95 would maybe put you in the top 5 overall in the many waters district. It would not necessarily guarantee you a top 3 finish in your rank. Unless it's low 2.955 or faster.in that district. Now district to district competition is different.

We advise people to "box it up" after a single run when it is either below 3.000 or for the pack level is at a 3.070 or better. We have seen lots of people mess up their cars trying to get faster times but everyone is able to tune to their hearts desire.
