This is my grandsons' first year in Cub Scouts. I think the draw was Pinewood Derby, because Poppa used to race them. I didn't have the heart to tell him that what I raced and what he'll be racing are two different animals. Anyways, here's a couple of pics of what I've whittled (one for him and one for me). I can race in the unlimited class for siblings and adults. He wanted a police car , so his has a top Later... Lee

Nice whittling there Lee. Really like the police car. I just completed a car very similiar to your pinewood derby car. Main difference is mine has rear fenders otherwise they are very close.

All painted and ready for some hot pursuit This has turned into a full family affair with Kai and Mom painting the car and putting on the stickers that Gramma made

Glad you like the car, Warren, but alas, the car can't be raced... It's illegal according to a new-found set of rules that the scout pack had posted on its' web-site. I had built the car according to the "rules" provided with the kit, which, as we all know (wink wink) is a little open for interpretation. The "official" pack rules require the slots-in-the-block be used for wheel/axle location. BUMMER!! So, to make a long story longer, it was back to the workbench. Here's car #2 And here, to make it OFFICIAL, the slots To answer your original question, the first car is just under 3 1/2" tall Later... Lee
