We are trying to get things organized for 2013. Wanting to still do some specialty races each month, I'm wondering what people would like to race?
Some ideas beyond just the divisions is to do something like Mills Craft and HR66 on alternating months and in addition have other specialty divisions once a quarter.
Always open to suggestions.
Thanks! Your hosts in Minnesota

Under the "Other" category: There has been a lot of discussion about a BSA/entry level division. Parts straight out of the box, pine block, four wheels (three touching of course), no machining of wheels or axles (sanding and polishing only), graphite lube, stock wheel base, etc. Speaking strictly for myself, I would even like to see a requirement that the original slots be used. Axles could be checked by requiring that the pointed ends be visible. I haven't raced in a while, but I would commit to sending in a car for such a division. Just a suggestion.

Proquest,
There are aftermarket axles on the market that have been designed to look like BSA axles including the pointed end. This is one of the reasons I designed my axles different.

Hey Evo,
Yeah, I know you are right. Perhaps I am naive, but I'm thinking that the vast majority of builders would do the right thing and play by the rules. I guess some builders take this sport so seriously that they would do just about anything to win. Personally, I like to win, but I don't like it enough to compromise my values.

I am with you Proquest, but I have seen what some people will do for a win or a little trophy. I personally believe that is you want a trophy that bad it would be cheaper for you to just buy it!

Mr. Slick,
I would like to add this but it does not fit into a special race. How about dividing down Pure Stock and maybe Limited into two sub groups. The pros in one and what ever you think it best to call the other group. If you win twice in the other group you move to pro. If you finish last twice in the pro group you move down. Just a thought and it would be easy to do.

I agree. If we can get some new guys into the racing in an entry position, they have a good chance of being competitive.
Additionally, they can learn from the guys who have been racing for a long time.
I will miss HR66 and would love to see it back in specialty.

Pure Stock with BSA kit would be cool. Let the fun begin. Leave the wheels alone. Alignment and bore/axle prep would rule. Make it interesting.... Run with axle slots w/o no fill and no redrill. That is tricky.....

Well, we used to have the Novice Division. Maybe bring that back.

Mr. Slick,
I think it is possible for a novice division that could be run with the pros. Then the results divided down to show the winner in each of the division. This allows the novice to run with the pro and get a sense of where they are at, but at the same time allows them to have a victory among the novices. Does that make sense. Once you will twice in novice you would move to pro, but if you lose twice you move back down. The racer would be required to mark his sheet with class placement. If they don't mark it they would be put in the pros.

What about everybody runs together in pure stock? 2.4999 and under would be the pro class. 2.5000 to 2.9999 would be level 2 or whatever name you want to call it. And 3.000 and slower would be level 3. The program does a sort at the end and puts everybody in the right class. Just a thought.

GS1,
That is a great idea and very simple to boot. I think we all have lots of great ideas! The problem is which idea to use that pleases the most people.
