The following changes will be taking place here at PWDRacing.com for the 2011 Proxy Season.
1. The Pure Stock Division will no longer be raced at PWDR
2. The Limited Division will allow the "new" BSA wheels. No other changes outside of that.
3. Pro-Stock Division...width rule will change from 2 3/4 to 2 7/8. No other changes outside of that.
4. Stock, Modified, Pro-Modifed and Extreme Pro-Modified Divisions will not change.
5. Hot Rod 66 Division...This Division will have some major changes. HR66 will now be a BIG AXLE only Division. No needle axles. Model/Plastic bodies are now allowed to be used in the Division as long as they meet all the measurement requirements.
6. Point System...PWDR will be going back to the old point system. Points will be based on the amount of cars entered in the Division. Points will only be used to determine who qualifies for the 2011 PWDRacing.com National Championship Race.
7. Overall Builder will be dropped.
8. New Division...Starting in 2011, PWDR will be adding the "Spec/Tuner Division". This Division will require the use of certain products (specific body, wheels, axles, weights, etc..) and will require all participants entering the division to use them. Each year the requirements will change. I am working on the rules for this Division and will have them posted soon.
9. Speciality Divisions will return for 2011...Old School, Mills Craft, Feather Lite, Drag-u-la, etc...
10. Show Class...I have not had much feedback on this. If you are interested in adding it, please contact me.

Lucky, Thanks for the heads up for next season. Regarding the "Show Class"- I already have requested that it be included but here is my second vote for it's addition! It should bring some creativity and imagination to the event. I see you have changed the Pro Stock max width to 2 and 7/8 versus 2 and 3/4. Curious as to why for this class and not Stock, Modified, Pro-mod or Extreme Pro Mod?

Curious as to why for this class and not Stock, Modified, Pro-mod or Extreme Pro Mod? Usually when a person runs a car in Pro Stock, keeping the wheels on the needle axles takes a little more room than the other classes. Ear ring backs seem to be the norm in keeping those wheels on the needles. They are so wide that the extra distance helps out a bit to make it all fit. In Stock most usually use a normal big axle with a head on it. Pro Mod, the wheels are narrow so you have plenty of room to spare. Extreme, most use bearings, and usually they can trim the axle back to where they need to be on the width. These are just my observations. Perhaps some of the professionals that actually do well in these classes could comment...

Drag-u-la The 1/8" width addition in Pro Stock will be a big help with leaving enough exposed axle for secure wheel retainers. I hope the changes in HR66 will spark more interest. It's a fun car to build. It was the most challenging needle car to make fast without rattling all the way down the track. Thanks Lucky 13 for getting the changes posted with plenty of time to adjust. 2011 should be a great season

HR66....Any body that meets the requirements...meaning; can it be a car? Just curious. What about the 1 3/4 rule? Will that stay the same? I know......Some clown always has to ask questions that were not mentioned in the changes....sorry Bob.

I know......Some clown always has to ask questions that were not mentioned in the changes....sorry Bob. Paul, I assume when you say "car", you are talking "cars" other than the coupe style bodies people build. HR66 has always been allowed to be a "car", it's just that most guys have built "coupes" for the division. Maybe it is because Coupes are easier to build within the rules or that they have that more nostalgic look ?Ganggreen is probably the only person I have seen actually build a "car" (55 T-bird...very cool), the rest have been different styles/interpretations of old coupes. The interpretation of a Hot Rod is up to you, it can be a 33 Ford Coupe, 65 Mustang, 71 Duster, etc...(you get the idea) but it must fit within the HR66 measurement requirements to race in the Division. Finding model bodies other than coupes that will fit the HR66 rules may be challenging though, but making one completely out of wood is still an option. Here is a link to a cool website that carries some nice bodies. Many of these will work with the HR66 rules. www.coachman281.com/1801.htmlThe 1 3/4 rule will remain in all the division. You are no clown for asking questions. I would rather people ask questions and get answers, than waste time building a car that they find out is not legal !! Lucky 13

I was reading the rules for the "Drag-u-la" class, and the dimensions for the coffin are gonna make it tough to squeeze a body in there.

Lucky 13, Will you please explain the "Old Rules" points system that will be used for next year? Is it just like the system at WIRL where, as you say, it is based on the number of entries in a division? Looking at the Dec. PWDR Pro Mod race where there were 6 racers, I would have earned 10 points (3rd thru 6th place) and Da Pine would, as the winner, only earned 6 points. Not sure how this works for qualification for the championship final race?

A builder only gets the points of their highest scoring car in a division.
If your cars were in all of the places from 3rd to 6th you would have gotten 4 points.
1st - 6 pts 2nd - 5 pts 3rd - 4pts 4th - 3pts 5th - 2 pts 6th - 1 pt

OK, Thanks - That is different than at WIRL - they award points for all the positions placed, even if they are all from the same builder.

I would just like to thank Lucky for all the work he has put into the new 2011 season. The division changes should make for some close and exciting racing! Also, the work that he and Andy have put in to running the races. I see it is paying off with over 90 cars at December's race. I love the new logo Andy created. It looks awesome on the t-shirts, the news champion banners and the new header at the top of the board. Oh yeah, the youtube channel is super neat-o, too! Get much sleep, Lucky? LOL! 2011 looks to be a great year and I can't wait to be a part of it.
