Questions on re-lubing
Due to the delay in the October race date,
You will not be re-lubing cars will you - as there is no way you can match the owners material and application technique, right?
And you certainly will not be allowing attendees-race helpers to re-lube their cars - which would give them a very unfair advantage - when owners who have mailed in cars would not be able to do that, right?

Hello Legaljoe, Welcome to the forum! I have cars sitting for this race and I have no problem with the time duration. Also, I just sent in four more cars and one of them was oiled several weeks ago.
If one is using oils that are rather dynamic, that might be the risk in using such ingredients.
My hobby is manipulating oils to see if I can get more speed. I have watched some ingredients evaporate on a very accurate 4 digit scale right in front of my eyes. Needless to say, I don't and would not use these ingredients when making a oil mixture.
Once again, nice to have you on board! Murph Shining Light Tribologies

and then there is that guy from TX who would relube his cars every 6 months or so.... don't know if it was just to save oN shipping, but his cars were very fast all the time. If I remember his name was something like Proquest, haven't see him much this season, but I hear he has things in the works again. We only do what the builders tell us to do. We do not initiate any changes to any car without the builder's direction to do so. Hope to see you on the track!

Welcome to the forum,
I think, I am like you in your thinking. None of my testing, has never shown me that the oil can last 10 to 14 days.
I have had my cars sit for 5 to 6 days and be okay, but for some reason on the 7ths day, after 2 to 3 runs. I see a time drop off.
Granted each buider is different and appplication of oil or what ever they use, is a factor.
Many of us just have to wait until saturday, to see if they run or if they are slow. Naturally the ones who come to the race and have not mailed cars, always has fresher oil.
But I have been able to in the past, despite no track testing and mailing them in, set a few track records and win a few races.
It's a concern and will wait and see howe they run, team sporty has 19 cars this month. with no tuning track and in the ranking for a 1st or 2nd place at the end of the season.
Its do or die time for us. got to go down trying everything we can.

Mr. Slick,
One can aways find exceptions, but I think any lubricant will deteroriate over time due to gravity and migration.
My point is -- that if you do not keep the playing field level for proxy (mail-in) racers with the attendee racers - you will discourage participation by the mail-in racers, thus hurting the PWD sport.
Further, I think you should consider not allowing any final race day tuning or lubricating by attending drivers as it favors those who happen to live close to your race site and those with the deepest pockets.

Legaljoe, Yes, some lubes will deteriorate over time, some more than others. There are a lot of guys out there trying new oils and some of the oils being used evaporate fast and others can go long periods of time without the need for re-lube. Any proxy racer at PWDR is more than welcome to send their choice of lube in with their cars and have me re-lube the car when it arrives or before race time. As far as this month goes, not one racers has ask me to re-lube any car of theirs, so it looks like most of us are in the same boat !! Do the live racers have an advantage over proxy racers ? That's really hard to say. Yes, they can lube their cars on race day, but it doesn't mean they have the fastest cars there that day. Having live racers and proxy racers is something all the leagues deal with. As racers we all know that is just something we have to live with. The only way to adjust to that is to make everyone send their cars in proxy and allow no live racers in attendance and I have no plans of doing that. Everyone is welcome to attend the races live. No cars are allowed to be tuned on the league track...period and that includes the time in between races. The league track is used for league races only and the days in between races it is covered and not used. We do our best to keep the playing field level at PWDR. Cars are staged properly, handled well and treated as our own. EVERY car that is racing at PWDR this month and every month, is here because the owner wants it to be here. If anyone had a problem with the reschedule, they knew their cars would have been shipped back to them with a FULL refund and the guys that did contact me with concerns where offered that. The race was rescheduled due to circumstances beyond my control. Did it upset me, yes, but life happens. Will it happen again ? It would be impossible for me to say no. Scheduling races 3-6-12 months out ahead of time is tough, but we will always do our best to try to stick with the posted schedule. Thanks for your concerns and suggestions !! I hope to see some of your cars on the track in the future. Lucky 13

Very good explanation.
Before trying out some of our cub scout cars I'd like to know we have half a chance at winning.

In this league, everyone has half a chance of winning. Most of all, this is a hobby and it is challenging and fun. As you can tell, ask a question, any question about anything, and more than a few of us will be willing to answer. I have been here just a year and a half and still only have half a chance of winning. LOL! But, the guys here are great and we have a lot of fun. Hope to see you on the track soon! steepslope

My cars have been in Lucky 13's possession (and taken care of very well) since early August. Most of my cars are graphite, some are half graphite half oil. I sent L 13 a bottle of my own lube with instructions and I have zero complaints. The racing/proxy situation is, what it is. It's a lot more fun than racing my cars against me, or beating up on my nephews/other family members cars at my house. If I lose to a live attendant or another proxy racer, oh well....... I enjoy being in the mix and the fellowship. If I were to only send in a car pending a guarantee that I would win, I would never send one in. I get worked over plenty around the proxy world ;D Welcome to the forum. If you jump in, it's all downhill from here
