I was wondering what is length of the track in the proxy videos from seasons past? The track we use for the PWDRacing league has always been a 42ft Best Track. We replaced the track/timer a couple seasons ago. Lucky 13

Anybody want to go to a 4 lane track or should we stay with a 3 lane one?

Thanks, I was just wondering how my car ran a 2.859 on what our pack leaders said is a 42' track. When your cars are running right at 2.9 or 3 sec. Well I just found out the last section of our supposedly 42' track got mangled somehow last year and the mangled part was cut off. So it is really about a 38' track. They were too cheap to buy another section so they re-drilled holes for finish gate. I thought there was no way our car was running 2.859 in 42'. Now I know.

It's possible but it depends on the angle of the drop. If it's a higher degree of drop, the cars are going to go faster, however chopping off a few feet will change the times as well...

Anybody want to go to a 4 lane track or should we stay with a 3 lane one? Warren, if that means we have to run 8 heats instead of 6, I would have to say no. Myself, and I am sure many others, are just doing good to get it timed correctly to get 6 decent runs out of a car on graphite. To be able to get 8 would require a totally different approach towards lubing. Just my thoughts.....now back to your regular programming...

Scotty,
There are several factors that cause track times to be different from each other. Like FatDaddy posted, slope angle can be one. A couple other areas that will effect times are placement of the timer (Best Track has 3 timer hole options) and when the micro-switch is activated by the pegs dropping (PWDRacings league track doesn't activate the timer until the pegs fall a certain distance). I'm sure there are more, but I'm sure you get the idea.

I do see what you are saying. I guess any little variation as to when timer starts makes a difference at other end.
In our rules it said we raced on a 42' Piantedosi Oars track. I couldn't see our car being 0.500 or so faster than the cars ya'll run in proxy race. So I looked into it and found out our track has been shortened about four feet and the holes for finish line gate re-drilled. Because somebody ran over the end with a forklift.
But it makes our time look good. ;D

Shortening the track is the quickest way to improve your times.
