Derby Worx and Warp Speed have spent the off season making our award winning wheels even faster than EVER!!! As many of you have read, the new B.S.A. wheel is lighter than the old wheel and a bit better, so we stepped it up AGAIN to put some more HOT in your HOT ROD this season!!! ;D The NEW B.S.A. wheel has a stepped ledge in the outer hub area where the axle head rides. All Derby Worx / Warp Speed wheels feature this area cut out to move the friction area back to the inner edge of the hub for reduced friction and less rotational area PLUS this area is NOW CONED for greater speed and easier set up of a RAIL RIDER (TM) ALIGNMENT!!! Thats right, BOTH sides of the hub on our PRO Ultra Lite, Pro Inertia Lite & Pro Stock wheels are coned and only from Derby Worx / Warp Speed! Next: the new B.S.A. wheel allows us to take our Pro Inertia Lite wheels to a amazing low of 1.4g's (down from 1.8g) and still retain ALL original wheel markings inside and out to meet many tight pack and district rules. All Derby Worx / Warp Speed Wheels feature our exclusive 5 step hub treatment and are precision machined using our NEW Haas cnc's on our EXCLUSIVE fixtures for added precision. If your rules would question the hub step removal, check out out Derby Worx Super Stock's / #MM01, these wheels are mold matched and precision machined on the tread face only on our exclusive fixtures using our Okuma cnc. Best of luck to ALL racers this season. Racer X Derby Worx Products can be found through these fine dealers: www.derbyworx.com/retailers.htm

I have some serious concerns over these new wheels that I have tested from Derbyworx and maybe someone from their organization can shed some light. First of all this is not bashing, just information I'm passing along. The first time I tried the new wheels, they were a set I picked up from the scout office and I removed the step and polished the bores. Those wheels ran on my entry in the Aluara's race and took first place. On my track they ran a very fast 2.94's to 2.95's. With the old style wheel I would get the same times. I figured not back for off the shelf scout wheels. I posted a video of the wheels running and mentioned it would be nice to try a set of these wheels that were machined. A vendor sent me a set to test out for free and I even bought a set from a seperate vendor. All this was around November. I finally got around to testing the wheels out this past week and I was highly dissappointed. First of all, the outer tread surface was very nice and the step removal was nice also. The wheels spun with no woobles and ran very smooth and very quiet. However, the bores looked absolutely terrible. Instead of being perfectly smooth from one side of hub to the other, the bore had a huge dip/groove on the outer hub side. When running these wheels on a single wide groove axle, the raised area of the axle slips down into this groove and the wheel binds up. It may not be an issue if you run your axles straight. Since I run mine canted, it was a major deal. After I did my normal bore prep for oil, I put these wheels on and the fastest I could get them to run was a 3.05. That is about 0.1 sec slower than the wheels from the scout office. The other set I got from another vendor that I paid for had the exact same flaw. They too were slow. They ran a 3.03. Just for kicks, I put a set of untouched new style scout wheels on with the same axles. These wheels did not have that flaw. They still had the step, unpolished and NO LUBE. These wheels ran from a 2.996 to a 3.00. How is it a $2 set of wheels beat a $20 set of wheels? For me these wheels are 100% useless. Is there anyway to get the wheels done with a completely perfect smooth bore? I have ran some of the older style DW wheels in the past and the bores were perfectly smooth. Maybe it was just a production flaw. I will put bushings in these wheels and they should work fine for a needle axle. I just thought I would pass this along. Maybe others have seen this also.

Carolina,
I have several sets of the new Derby Worx Pro-Stocks and have had excellent results with them. The bores on the sets I have all seemed fine. Hopefully Racer-X can give you an answer on what's up with the wheels you purchased.
