I received a phone call today from Da Pine in regards to the rules for Pure Stock. Dwayne wanted to know if you are allowed to use tape or other materials to cover the wheel opening if you turn your wheels around in the Pure Stock Division ?
The answer to that question is...NO !! In the Pure Stock Division you can turn your wheels around, but you cannot use tape or any other material to cover the wheel opening. This is a violation of the rule 5F. Bearings, bushings, washers, sleeves, hubcaps or inserts attached to or in contact with the axle, body or wheels.
Also...the inside of the wheels have to be open for inspection purposes. If the inspector cannot inspect the inside of the wheel thoroughly to make sure it has not had material removed from the inside, he will be left with no choice but to move the car into another division.
There is no rule in regards to this modification in the Limited Division, but the same thing applies in that division as well. The inspector must be able to inspect the inside of the wheel thoroughly. Even clear tape will cause a distortion that can prevent this from happening !! So, if you choose to use tape or any other material to cover over the wheel opening, please note that you are doing this at your own risk and may end up having your car moved into another division if the inspector cannot get a clear look at the inside of the wheel !!
Thanks Everyone,

Thanks Lucky 13 for the quick response, it makes complete sense. I skipped through the rules too quick & missed 5F. I can't imagine any way for a tech inspector to make the call of a class requiring a non lightened wheel to be legal when the inside of the wheel can't be clearly seen. Even a clear material would be clouded by graphite for those who use it. I guess that saves that trophy from getting more 30mm holes cut out of it Da Pine

In the last week I have received 2 phone calls and a pm regarding the Pure Stock rules. I thought I would share this with everyone as to avoid any confusion at the BGN or PWDR with Pure Stock cars.
Can you use teflon washers in Pure Stock between the body and wheel hub ?...the answer is No !! What if I attach/insert them into the car body where the wheel hub contacts ?...No !! What about teflon tape ?...No !!
Remember, this is Pure Stock and rule 5-F. prohibits this. If the wheel hub does make contact with the body, the only thing it should be contacting is either paint or wood !! Let's keep pure stock...pure stock !! There are plenty of other divisions here at PWDR and at the BGN that allow racers to use washers, bearings, inserts and all that fun stuff.
Thanks Everyone,

It is allowed at PDDR in Pure Stock this year so that might be some of the questions....
I have not seen a lot of people do it...
It would be slick on any car where you reversed the wheels. If the rules allow both reversing the wheels and the spacers in the class you are racing. :-)
