Hey, Guys! I can not believe it, but my one year anniversary of joining this forum was on Friday! Just wanted to let you know that being part of this group has enriched my life in ways I never would have imagined a year ago.
Some things that I have learned during the past year:
1. If you want to be a PWD racer, it helps if your name is Dave or Steve (seems like there are a LOT of you in this hobby).
2. Melting lead and young boys do NOT go together-- so don't try it (plus, lead is poisonous).
3. There are some dudes here that are massively talented when it comes to airbrush skills (so much for my one year of Art in high school. Ya'll blow me away)!
4. Racing little wooden cars can be addictive (ok, I kind of knew that coming in, but ya'll have reinforced the idea BIG TIME).
5. It is possible to be competitive AND friendly! (Important one there-- ya'll do that better then any other group I have ever seen. Of course, prior to this I hung out with a lot of PAGEANT MOMS, so.... ya'll qualify for Sainthood up against that bunch! LOL!)
6. It is possible for adults to sincerely share in the excitement of other peoples' accomplishments. (The way that ya'll encourge each other is inspiring)
7. If I have a question that I feel is too stupid to post on the board, I can always ask one of the Daves (see Item #1).
8. PWD cars have been elevated to an art form-- both beauty and speed. This is a great melding of art and science. It is truly a worthy hobby.
9. Finally: I have learned that you can find friendship in the most unlikely of places when you are not even looking for it. It can surprise you, and enrich you and even change your life.
At the risk of sounding sappy.... I love my PWD guys! Thank you for your friendship, advice, guidance, tolerance, encouragement, support and a ton of other things! I am looking forward to Year #2 of hanging out with ya'll.Thanks for letting me be a part of this group!!!!
