Hello PWD racers. My name is Ian Tomlinson and I am from Northern Illinois. I have never raced a PWD car but after searching many sites I am very excited to try it out. I have been into many hobbies in my past. I started in RC car racing for about 5 years. I then got involved with Slot cars at the national level. Slot cars kept me busy for about 8 years before I quit due to my growing family. I started my own business in slot car racing called Goat Boy Products. I machined tools for slot racers and it turned out to be a great business to support my racing. I still make tools from time to time but for the most part it's not much of a business anymore. I am a journeyman tool & die maker by trade so you can see why the PWD cars appeal to me ;D Well thats about it for me. I am very excited to try this out and I hope to some day meet you all at a race. Good luck to you all in the racing season!
Ian

Hey Ian,
Welcome to PWDR. With your background in slot racers and tool making, Pinewood Derby would seem to be a perfect fit for you. Many of us were first exposed to Pinewood Derby through Cub Scouts. Some of the builders got started proxy racing to help their sons do better in their Scout races. Many, like me, got hooked on pinewood derby through scouts but continued after their sons were no longer in Cub Scouts. It's lots of fun and very addictive. Anything we can do to help you get started just shout.
Again, welcome,
Steve H.

Hey, Goat Boy! That is a funny name... it is what I affectionately call my hubby! Small world, huh? Of course, HE got that name because his family gave us GOATS for a wedding present! (Long story.... but they are from south Louisiana, so that should tell you something).
Best of luck in your racing endeavors!!! I know that you will have a great time, and you have found a great bunch of guys to get info from!
