I'm sure it's been done before, but I just heard about this weighting technique: Since not all scales weigh the same it is very possible your car which is exactly the correct weight on your scale is overweight on the "official" scale. One scout left a hollow spot in the bottom of his car and filled it to the correct weight with a combination of wax and BBs. That way any excess weight can be easily removed at race time.
