Spent a long time today tuning my replacement for humerus only to find out at the last minute that It doesn't quite make the 3/8 clearance. (How did I let that happen ) So right now I have no stocker to send....Humerus is in 9 pieces and I have Nothing else ready.. Looks like it will be an over night replacement or nothing at all for this month. Wish me luck By the way....is anyone familiar with the 3/8 clearance rule Is it a strict 3/8 or will a car pass as long as it clears the center guide all the way down the track?

Hey Bob,
That bites. You still have a few days. to try to fix it. Is there any way you can shave the bottom enough to clear?
Sorry to report that the "go/no go" fixture is sort of an "all or nothing" guage. It has a center strip that is just under 3/8" (probably .374"). When the car is placed in it either the wheels will touch or not. If so, it passes, if not, it fails.
Good luck pulling it together in time for Saturday.

Sorry to hear about that Bob - I hope you can figure out a way to get it fixed? I had the exact same issue with thing Sushi but I was able to route out a bit more wood underneath the car and lift the weight a bit. I had similar issues this week but with a different dimension... just before I was going to test our two new Limited cars I measured them... found out they are both 7-1/16th inch long! Both cut from the same block of wood which must have been longer than 7"... I never thought to measure the wood block prior to cutting it up. Paint was dry on my daughters car (the only decent paint job I have ever managed to pull off and she did most of the painting herself/had been in progress for 9 days), and The Emperor was already covered in plastic and ready to go. Ended up having to pull the skin off the emperor and sand down the nose, same thing with my daughters car. Fixing The Emperor was pretty easy, but repainting the nose of my daughters car was not and it doesn't look nearly as good as it did before I attempted the repair. To make matters worse, Sat. a.m. I prepped wheels/axles, hurt my finger doing so, and finally got The Emperor ready to roll... well... roll it did, albeit slowly... it's the SLOWEST car I've ever built! The thing crawls... I went super aggressive with COM (3/8" on a short wheelbase) and tried significant camber on the rears... the car is super-fast down the hill but as soon as it hits the transition it wiggles horrifically. I spent two hours trying to get it to run better with zero luck; I don't think I can pull off 3/8" COM on a Limited car with cambered rears. I'm going to try to move weight around but I think it's destined for the trash can. One question for everyone; when you say your COM is ".75" or whatever measure, I assume that is with the wheels/axles in place on the car? Does everyone determine COM with wheels on the car, or do some folks determine this with just the bare body? I never thought to ask this before, and if people don't measure this the same there are some data points in my head that may not be accurate.

Hey Steve,
By definition, COM is measured with the wheels on. Even razors on the front will change the COM due to the distance from the COM.

Thanks for the clarification Steve, I assumed as much but assuming is never a good idea...

Well had a good weekend racing, but a really bad weekend building! Dropped one car and broke it. Total loss, can't fix it, and was finishing one up and discovered I am WAY OVER WEIGHT! I could probably fix it but its going to be UUUUGGGLLY! Plus the one that was over weight is a needle car and I really screwed up drilling the rear holes. Put the wheels on it and it looks bow legged. I think I'll just redo the two but: I'M RUNNING OUTA TIME! See ya Scott Beakerboys

Nothing wrong with the computer - just the 750gig add-on drive which held all of the digitized videos so far and the photos.
The photos are on the photobucket account - full res too! The videos are still on their tapes so I can recapture them too. I just need space to work with the 8 gig file . . . normally I cut out the various races to put together. . . this actually results in the entire file being duplicated with just the time slices being marked for inclusion in the "final version" for each of the divisions - so the 8 gig file times 6 divisions is 48 gig of disk space - the internal drive is only a 60gig drive. . . . .
I do have a spare 500 gig drive that needs to have an eSATA connection for my laptop. . . anyone have an extra ExpressCard eSata adapter for an Inspirion E1705 -- otherwise I will be visiting BestBuy for one on Friday(pay-day!) ;D
