Hello PWDR! Like many of you, I have been building cars for my Cubs over the past 8 years. I regret not having found this league sooner. We have done very well at the Pack level, but always get smoked at District. I always wondered how these guys had breakaway times. After lurking on this and a few other sites, I find out many of you here BEAT US! Well, not directly, but your components were no doubt on the faster cars~ We have one more year for Scout PWD, so the idea is to build a few cars and race them here this season. Hopefully we learn more about the tricks and get dialed in. It would be awesome for my last Cub to walk away with a big trophy his last year. We always have fun building the cars, so this will also be another reason to head out into the garage. I wanted to introduce myself and see how many other North Carolinians are here before I pound you with questions. I am looking forward to this new chapter in our PWD career!

Thanks guys. I am in Apex , right outside of Raleigh.
First question is this. I may be able to get my hands on a WOOD track that a pack is upgrading from. Is there any value in tuning on a wood track if all races are on aluminum?

Is there any value in tuning on a wood track if all races are on aluminum? Sure, just be careful when you set it up that all the section joints have no bumps or offsets, both in the track itself and the rail joints! I have a homemade two lane wood track with a time rand find it very useful! Does a timer come with it? Good luck

Cycrunner, that is a good question, I need to see. But you confirmed my guess on wood track tuning. Thanks!
