So, is the exact pin-to-sensor distance of the official league track something that is public knowledge? I'm curious as to if I am even close, and that requires an apples-to-apples comparison. Thanks for any info anyone can give me.

Tim, I do not know what set of holes the league track was using last night. There are three sets of holes for the timing system drilled into the track from Best Track. Here is some information directly from Best Track. Racing distance to the middle timing hole from the start gate pins: 35 ft. track - 29 ft.10 in. (358 in.) 42 ft. track - 36 ft.10 in. (442 in.) 49 ft. track - 43 ft.10 in. (526 in.) More information can be found here- www.besttrack.com/track_specs.html

Same holes as before.... Timer wasn't taken off for relocation. I tried to make sure that there were limited differences in the set-up. The thing that changed was the transition had it's supports taken off for the ride to MN.

I set up my 1 lane 42' Best track over the weekend - and promptly discovered that my sensor hole was not in the same location as the sensor hole on my Cub Scout Pack's 42' Best track, so a little recon was in order. I also discovered that the start pin is not in the same location. I can understand the stop sensor hole being different (maybe one or both tracks were originally ordered without stop sensor holes from the factory), but the fact that the start pins are in different locations puzzles me. Thanks again for the info.

Our pack has a 42' Best track and my son and I tuned on a different 42' Best track prior to the race. We ran in the 2.93's on the one track and 2.97's on the other. Just by placing a piece of cardboard under the start section that 2.97's dropped .02's. I think there are just too many variables to compare track to track.....Just a noob giving you my two cents to get another posting closer to Oil, Oil, Oil.... ;-)

yes big daddy the degree of the slope can make a big difference in times. no two tracks will be the same when it comes to times and speed. i set my track up the best i can and tune to the best times i can get that's all you can do. with league tracks that never change, unless they are moved or taken down, you can compare your time between your track and the league track to know what you need to run on your track to compete.
