Everyone is qualified to enter cars in this special November 17th race!
The Rules are as follows:
Please note that these are the same rules as for the limited division except for the items I have highlighted in red.
"454" Division
1) Body
A. The main body structure must be made from wood.
B. The car body may be enhanced by the addition of other stable materials such as plastic or metal. Any additions must be firmly attached and meet car size requirements.
2) Car Specs
A. Width- Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches
B. Length- Not to exceed 4 inches
C. Weight- Not to exceed 5.0 ounces (143 grams) on a scale accurate to 1/10 ounce
D. Height- Not to exceed 2 3/4 inches
E. Center Rail Clearance- No less than 1 3/4 inches minimum
F. Bottom Clearance- Car must be built to clear the track center rail. The height of the center rail on the track is 1/4" tall.
G. Wheelbase –No wheelbase restrictions.
H. There must be 4 wheels and axles installed on the car. Axles must be installed to the side of the body and angle no more then 45 degrees. It is not required that all 4 wheels make contact with the track.
I. The following modifications are prohibited
1. Having any part of the car go beyond the starting peg
2. Starting devices or propellants (car must be gravity powered)
3. Electronic or lighting devices
4. Liquids, wet paint, oil, sticky substances or powders of any kind (other than lubrication)
5. Glass or excessively fragile parts
6. Bearings, bushings, inserts
7. Loose objects on car
8. Magnets
3) WHEELS
A. BSA wide wheels, Pine-car, Pine-Pro, MV Precision or Awana wide wheels are the only wheels allowed for the Limited Division.
B. Wheels may be lathe turned, polished and/or sanded to true the tread surface, diameter, and the edge of the tread.
C. Some of the decorative markings at the edge of the tread area must remain visible around the entire circumference of the wheel.
D. 7.50mm tread width (tread width will be measured from the outside of the decorative edge markings to the inside edge of the wheel)
E. The tread surface must be flat and parallel to the wheel bore
F. Removal of the inner and outer step is allowed as well as re-coning of the inner hub.
G. Wheel Bore treatment is allowed including polishing and/or tapping.
H. You may add material to the inside of the wheel to aid in balancing
I. Wheel covers may be used only if the entire wheel is visible
J. The following wheel modifications are prohibited:
1. Drilling holes in the sidewalls or tread area
2. Grooving, H-cutting or V-cutting
3. Altering the wheel profile
4. Filling of any wheel surface with any type of material
5. Removing or modifying plastic material from inside the wheel.
6. Removal of BSA markings and spokes
(Wheels and axles will be checked with a digital caliber if needed, race directors decision is final)
4) Axles
A. Minimum axle diameter is .084
B. Nail, pin, or solid rod type axles are allowed with an overall diameter of no less than .084 inches (BSA, DerbyWorx, Derby Evolution, ect.)
C. Grooves and modification of the axles is allowed as long as the journal portion of the axles (the part the wheel rides on) is no less then .084 diameter.
5) Lubricants
A. Approved lubricants includes (but is not limited to) graphite, Teflon, nyoil, and krytox.
B. Over application of lubricant which results in excessive shedding onto the track surface is not allowed.
6) Reasons for disqualification
A. Failure to meet race requirements and/or rules
B. If any part of the car interferes with another car
C. If your car leaves it's lane and interferes with another car
D. If your car is causing damage to the track or stop section
