Mr. Slick / Warthog / etc.: Question about "Record times" for the various Divisions. If different tracks are being used (42' Best, 44' Challenger, 64'), will you keep "Record times" for each track setup? Inquiring minds want to know... p.s. I would have sent you a PM, but I was thinking we might not be the only Team with this question.

All the monthly proxy races are on and will be on the 42' Best Track. Warren, I believe, uses the Challenger Tracks for his other races.

If that is the case it would make life a little simpler (I will take every bit of help I can get in that regard! ) I guess I got confused when I read the March blurb on the Racing League page about the Open race being on the 44' Challenger. Are the Open and Points races run separately, or was this simply a typo on the track spec?

We are going to stick with the 42' Best Track for the points races in the foreseeable future since it is the same as the other leagues are using.
The Open races are just races for pure fun - no points are awarded and so we use what ever track the racers are interested in trying out.
It actually belongs to Pack 111(the one that Warthog works with) and we are thankful that they are letting us use it.
I'm getting pressure from my side to actually purchase a Best Track to replace the challenger one since it would be lighter and hence easier to set-up/take down for all of the other races. . . . to get a similar size track I'm looking at over $2K. Not today honey.
Also I just got word that we will have the same room as last month for all but one of the races this year! ! !

The 42' Best Track, timer and software was purchased new this winter - hopefully it won't take long for the pack to recoup its' investment in the track. ;D

Now all you have to do is regulate the temperature, humidity, ambient light, track orientation, number of attendees... and you could have a suitable "test" environment In all seriousness, we do plan to do some incremental mods and watch the results, esp. starting in April. Sorry, but I can't do the couch, I'll have to grab a sleeping bag and pitch a tent, maybe build an igloo. I'll also need a few extra bucks for a 6 lane timer with the different lane spacings. . . I think the BetaCraft/Challenger lanes are a little wider than the BestTrack since it has an actual lane divider between the lanes. 3 5/8" width vs 3 1/2" width - not much at the first lane but by the time you get over to the 6th lane it's 3/4" out of alignment with the sensor/detector. As far as room conditions, it used to be a TV studio room, full control is possible for all environmental factors.
