Helped out the Church that hosts out Cub Pack's Awanas group with a build session yesterday.
Interesting kits, light wheels, decent axles that are not nails, and the wood...
Anyone know what wood is in their kits? It did not look or cut like pine. Maybe Poplar, a few bodys looked and felt like Basswood.
I might order a couple Awanas Kits just to play with.
Any tips on Awanas wheels?
Thanks,
Kevin

Make sure you get the inside edge smooth -- the plastic piece that comes off frequently leaves a bump on both the edge and the outer tread surface. I am thinking that a bit of polishing of the bore would be a good thing. Possibly a treatment for the outer hub area. . . graphite needs to be worked in at the minimum. I got a few set this year and hope to get them on ONE of my NEW cars. . . .

As Mr. Slick indicated, you do need to remove the sprue from the molding process and make sure to sand that area smooth.
The plastic on Awana wheels is softer than used for BSA wheels, so you do need to be a bit more careful about melting the plastic while sanding.
