Hi Jim, Always good to hear of new HR66s' being built. The rules (as I understand them) say the 1" x 1" square section has to be 1 3/4" above the race surface. I'm not a "official" for this league but I'm pretty sure that if your car does not meet the rules it would be too heavy to fall into any of the other classes, if it only weighs 5 oz, it could fall in to Pro Modified. Good luck with your new Hot Rod, looking forward to seeing it run

Take a look at some of the past and current HR66 cars and you will get an idea of what is expected in the HR66 class. Like Dapine said, if the car doesn't meet the class requirements, there really isn't another class it will fit into because of the 6 ounce weight limit. Have fun with the build and if we can help you out along the way, Please let us know !! Lucky 13

Thanks for the info I am taking two bodies that were bought precut then sanded, painted for our school/scout fair you can see pictures and video on Neprl board June 20th. in fact you will see holes in back of all the cars for the kids to put weight in, after fair I decided to try and turn them in to league racers. 3 for my daughter. one for mom and one for me. sent two to nationals 1.ajf #0 2.blue and gray Running the rest at neprl and sent 2 of my daughters pink cars into alaura's race. This is the reason i am sending them in with tungsten putty hanging out back. Started cars with zinc weights, pro body jig. straight axles got times from bgn Got rail rider bent axles for nationals. got different times/ different track. no test track time. started racing at neprl got different times. Got some tuning time some cars speeded up some went slower. raced again at neprl got no time (Dave ) slowly replacing zinc with tungsten. have purchased the block and intend to epoxy holes and re drill rears. designing new cars to try disk and canopy tungsten for this coming scout year and adult race April 24, 2010 at foxwoods. (basically 3/8 planks) or smaller if i copy knotthead. I read some were that its not the tool but the use of the tool that counts so i am using this method to gain experience and time tring new things. I want to race with you big dogs here and at pddr. so i am slowly tooling up and biding my time as i increase my arsenal of knowledge and equipment. so look out my solar powered cars are going to be after you. ;D ;D ;D anyway i have two cars that i am going to try two turn into hot rod 66s 1. dragster engine in front with a Chevy 409 that i was going to put in my shoe box door slammer that i never finished. 2. is a 50s style coupe. i will try to get Dave to teach me tonight how to post photos at our tunning session tonight

Andy,
I really love this car. The body style and the detail work must have taken a lot to time. It looks great. It was very kind of you to offer it for the Alaura Auction. I know that Evolution will make it go fast.

I have some 5 and 5.5 ounce disc weights for cars like these. Very nice design. I still have to finish the HR66 Kit I got at Lima!

SURE ANDY it's not enough that i build slow cars now i have to build slow show cars too! The way your car looks i wish i had bid more? nice job! I admit your car body in the auction gave me the idea. and i thought i would try to copy it. now i see i have created an impossible dream my cars would more easily copy one of fat daddy's unpainted cars and now he's even raised the bar. ;D ;D Jim
