Fatdaddy...How dare you use hard work and my name is the same sentence...lol !! Yes, those are the Lester Racing Balsa fenders. I've found they are WAY easier to use and a lot less of a headache then trying to make my own. Balsa is a pain in the *ss to work with and every time I tried to make my own they looked terrible ??
W Racing...the back parts of the fenders are plastic. They are some prototype pieces that were made by a resident racer here at PWDR. I'm not sure if he plans on selling them yet, so I'm not sure if I should say who it is ? I'll leave it up to him whether he wants to speak up or not.
Thanks for the compliments everyone. Now I need to get working on a few more cars. Hopefully I'll be ready for the February PWDR race ?!

The fenders were machined by Goat Boy Products. They are CNC machined and have been tested and proved to make you faster. Beakerboy came to me and wanted some plastic fenders made and this is what I came up with. I am getting ready to machine up more and going to combine forces with Lester Racing so we can have a complete 2 piece fender system. Will be the balsa flares with the Delrin fenders. I am going to machine them out of white Delrin so racers can dye them to customize there rides You will see them on here as soon as I get some made up. Ian

Ian Ian, I'd love to experiment with the delrin wheel surround/fender thingies, can you let me know how much you want for them on here or via a PM? How large is the hole in these where the axle goes through; large enough for only the axle to fit through (such that the inner wheel hub rides/rubs against the delrin) or is the hole larger than the inner hub diameter such that the hub rubs directly with the body (I'm guessing this is the case)? How thick is the delrin surface that adheres the body/covers the inner side of the wheel? How much of the wheel do they cover/how far below the axle do they extend? What do you feel are the primary benefits these offer? I am very intrigued by the possibilities... I like the concept of mitigating the turbulence/drag resulting from the open/hollow backside of a BSA style wheel, and these would definitely help in this area provided the wheels were mounted in their normal fashion with inner hub facing inward (although they would also slightly increase the frontal profile of the wheel since the wheel-inside-the-delrin surround would be wider than the unshrouded wheel itself). I also like the idea of mating a balsa fender to the machined delrin shroud since the machined shroud can be made to much more exacting tolerances than I can work balsa by hand. Do you know anything about the airlflow dynamics of a wheel inside of the delrin shroud? Sorry for so many questions, but those look really cool and I'd love to try 'em out! Steve

The hole is big enough so that the hubs on BSA style wheels can still ride in towards the body.How thick is the delrin surface that adheres the body/covers the inner side of the wheel? I believe the Delrin is about .050" thick on the backside. How much of the wheel do they cover/how far below the axle do they extend? The fenders extend well below the axle. Basically my fenders are a Derby Worx SS wheel(little larger) and I cut about the bottom 1/4 off where the wheel touches the track. Maybe Bob can post a side pic of his car and you can see.What do you feel are the primary benefits these offer? I think the main benefit is the air flow. Now the wheel is totally surrounded and air flow off the body can not get trapped in the wheels. That is why everyone is flipping there wheels backwards. Plus they look really cool! ;DDo you know anything about the airlflow dynamics of a wheel inside of the delrin shroud?

Any chance of just doing a one piece rear fender that wraps around like the one above; one for a Pure Stock wheel base (7/8" from rear) and the other for a 5/8" from rear wheel base?
